Yeah this game is awesome. I will probably put T.O in the slot for the most of the game and run patterns to the flats ...run the ball and do the odd play action either to some deep posts to the wr's or dump it off to the tight end in the flats... throw in some occasional slip screen pases and a few wild cat runs.

Defense will be mostly a combo of cover 3, cover 2, and throw in a few blitz schemes depending on what they are trying to do in the passing game. Maybin is a beast in this game, I recorded 27 sacks in the regular season, I will be controlling him and going after Rivers.

I used to like Madden, but stopped buying it when EA got the monoploy on NFL video games. Sorry, but I thought ESPN 2K was a much better game. I haven't played Madden in a few years. It's just gotten too complicated with all of the options for hot routes and audibles and everything. I realize they're trying to make it as realistic as possible, but it's just too many buttons for me to keep track of.

They slowed it down considerably this year. But the key to Madden is learning how to run. Most folks can't stop a good runner.

This is the kind of crap that really bugs me about rookie holdouts. Everybody does it and it really pisses me off. NO rookie fresh out of college should be making multi-millions of dollars. Ryan Leaf anyone?

All rookie contracts should have some sort of league minimum and be incentive-laden. If you rush for 1,000 yards you get a million dollars. If you score 20 TD's in a season, you get a million dollars. None of this $20 million guaranteed crap.

Hot routes are key, I use them all the time. I find I don't have enough time to audible single players on defense before the snap, which is difficult for me. Madden 10 is a great great. My favorite of all the ones I played.

Five teams that could be really, really good

San Diego: So the Bolts were one of the league's biggest underachievers a year ago. They still made the playoffs and won a game there. Shawne Merriman returns to Ron Rivera's defense, and don't tell me that shouldn't wake up offensive coordinators. The Chargers are the only team of consequence in the AFC West and should go 6-0 there. If they split the remainder of their games they're 11-5, but I think 12-4 is more like it.


Five guys who could disappoint

Terrell Owens, WR, Buffalo: Tell me how he produces big numbers in this offense and in this city. In Dallas, weather wasn't much of a factor in November and December. Here it is. That's why the Bills run the ball, and that's why Owens won't like it. Trent Edwards, look out.


Five of My favorite interviews

Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego: For the life of me, I don't get why people knock this guy. He's passionate about his job. He's outstanding at it, throwing 34 touchdown passes a year ago. And he wins. The guy has been a starter for three years, and three years the Chargers have been in the playoffs. Plus, he's a terrific interview. When I want to talk to quarterbacks, I go straight for Hasselbeck, Rivers and Kurt Warner.

It was a tough match. 10-6 in the third and I punted and dummy cason decided not to fair catch my high punt. I came in and smoked his ***, he fumbled and another special teams player that was rushing down picked it up and took it to the house . For the most part the chargers stopped my passing game. Owens was the top receiver with 86 yards. Maybin had one sack, a force fumbled and tipped a ball that was intercepted. Rivers threw 2 picks . The only tough part was shutting down tomlinson in the passing game. Final score was 24- 6 .

I ended up playing the Saints in the superbowl. It was a very tough game. They really shut me down on offense but my defense came through with some important picks, one in the redzone. I pulled off the victory with a 14-7 win.

Thats an excellent question. Not sure why but the CPU best bet is to put mighty mouse as the PR. I will check the Chargers depth chart the next time I play. That bad decision by Cason was the turning point in the game. Oh after winning his first superbowl TO retired in the offseason...lol .

I checked their depth chart and Sproles is listed as #1 on KR and PR. The AI must have made some stupid decisions throughout the season.

It does also depend on what quarter the game is in and how "tired" the player was. If Sproles had been running the ball a lot, he may not have had enough stamina to continue running back punts and kicks.

No thats not it. Cason returned punts the entire game. Sproles only received the ball a few times in the game. It was my second season in franchise so somehow Casons player progression rated him higher than Sproles for that position. Its the only reason I can think of why the CPU would do that. I noticed the CPU swapped out my kicker for kickoffs for the punter because the punter was rated higher for kickoffs for some reason.
