What is the last Blu-ray movie you watched?

Last night it was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. What a phenomenal looking picture! I was rivetted throughout. I'm planning on watching the two sequels tonight, or maybe the second tonight and the third tomorrow.

Just watched "12 Rounds".

* Great non-stop action with good stunts, explosions, the full shawbang.
Video is very good, Audio is pure dynamite.

Chris Botti live in Boston is a stunner. Video is really clean but the audio just kills. Steven Tyler brings the house down. A must see!

Watched the 3d version of Coraline last night, enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Will have to "rewatch" it in 2d make out some of the finer details in the picture. 3d was very good though I thought.

Planet of the Apes

I watched the new one the other day. The one directed by Tim Burton. The DTS HD Master makes for a great experience. I especially liked the crash landing scene, great pans left to right and back to front. Nice effects!

Funny, I watched CHris Botti with Sting in BD last night, it is good also. I have seen the boston BD at Best Buy, I wonder if it was good. I think I remember it had 7.1 sound? I'll go by and pick it up now since you gave it a good review.

What new Burton movie? He has 2 movies that he has been working on for the last 4 years and neither of them are even out in theaters yet. Coraline was not directed by Burton.

Not only are the AQ and PQ very good, the movie is good as well I would say it is not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

So so, with some funny parts, as far as movies go, except, there is some cool factor in how they made the movie and that it is based on reality and in a real place.

Maybe I should have been more clear? I was referring to Tim Burton's version of Planet Of The Apes. It's not exactly a new release since it came out in 2003. I said "new" and "Tim Burton" so it would not be confused with the orignal Planet of The Apes movie released in 1968! Compared to the original, yes, it is the new movie. That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. ...Oh, and the crash landing scene is great.

I will say that the original is much deeper and dealt with religion and politics of the 1960's. It also had much more explanation then the newer version. The newer version stays on the surface most of the time and does not attempt to dive in that deep. However, the pace is much quicker, which probably appeals more to today's culture. Burton's movie obviously had better effects. Not saying it's his best work, but I was able to pick it up for $12 on Blue. So anyway, it was still fun to watch.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. Burton's film was a bit thin and more of an action/FX movie than the original. It was entertaining but not as much of a social commentary.
