To be honest, I don't think the Oppo is his cuppa tea.

Yes, it's a true universal player in that it plays blu-ray (heaven forbid!) along with all audio formats, but it doesn't cost enough to compare with what he's got.

Please note the only interest he's shown here was for that expensive Denon was thrown into the mix, and, I think it was put in here as a joke! Personally, I think I nailed it with option one in my other post here.

SACD bitstream is 2.0-5.1 DSD, I believe my Yamaha RX-V3800 handles 5.1 DSD if I am not mistaken.

Looking for any imput on which brand of universal player ( CD / DVD ) would be classed audiophile quality, Esoteric, bel canto, linn ?? Totally confused by all the salesman guff, anybody out there with some info ???

Esoteric, Linn and Lexicon are three High End Universal brands of players that are right there on the very top. Denon is right behind, and also Krell.

Linn would be my #1 spot.
Then, Lexicon or Esoteric being my #2 choice.

Oppo wasn't on the prestigious list of exorbitantly expensive disc spinners. I'm merely pointing out the fact that it's a cruel joke to think that these spinners merit such high price tags.
