The 10 Camaro is definitely a nice LOOKING car, but in the real world, they kinda suck. Back seat is non-existent, good luck trying to see out of the back window, and don't even think about trying to rest your elbow on the window when you're driving.

Chevy admits that this car is about looks first and practicality second. The engine indeed kicks major *** though. But I would still take a stock Mustang, slap a supercharger on it and have a car that will kick the crap out of the Camaro, (while still costing less), any day of the week.

Minimum $10,000 over MSRP on the V-8's right now. At least in the Orlando Manheim market right now.
Yeah, no question that in the end they will be just like all the "new Mustangs" soon enough everyone will have one and then they'll just be passe...

I was at Road America for the Vintage Races - Kohler sponsers every year (I get a free full hospitality deal with my connections. There was a company that had a few custom Camaros there - totally built for pretty much $100k... ridiculous IMO...

My gripe about all these new/old cars?

Size, pure and simple.

I'm 6'3" and by the time I contort myself enough to get in 'em, I find that my eyes are above te top of the windshield and all I can see is the hood and maybe a few feet in front of the car.

Being tall is a double-edged sword. It's great in many cases but it sure limits the cars you can drive.

*cough* BULLSHIT *cough*.

The only Mustang that will compete is the Cobra. That stock Mustang even with supercharger still isn't going to produce the power.

Ah! the lure of American Muscle. Perfect for driving in a straight line. Just kidding...

The Henessy Camero looks downright sexy. Looks fantastic even in pictures, can only imagine what it will look like in real life.

I am a fan of the Corvettes. Hope to have a Z06 one day with some choice Lingenfelter upgrades or maybe the ZR1 if I win the lottery.

And your point is? Have you sat in a 67-69 Camero? Same thing.

Here is your solution.

Wow Maze, I guess you know a lot about the NY Giants, but not much else. I'm shocked.

5.0 Mustang put a Techco blower on the stock GT and made 419.5 RWHP.

http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0907_techco_supercharger_kit/ford_mustang_techco_supercharger.html

Edelbrock's E-Force blower will take a GT to 466 RWHP!!!

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/superchargers/superchargers.shtml

The SS is only one tenth of a second faster than a stock GT in the 1/4 mile, yet has over 100 more HP!! The Mustang is 300 Lbs lighter than the SS, so indeed simply slapping a blower on one will net you a faster, more nimble car, while being less expensive.

Next time, make sure you know your facts before you go shooting your mouth off.

At $10K over list, you could get a Vette for the same money with the discounts right now.

My dad has a 50th anniversary z06. INSANE power for the money you get one of those nowadays. The new z06's are incredible machines for the money. You can't touch the power at that price point..

Hahahaha....very true!!
If you're speaking about yourself being full of it, yes that is indeed very true. If you're referring to an SS being faster than a Mustang with a supercharger, you are yet again incorrect.

It is interesting that you should mention the HP difference and 1/4 mile similarity. It is like judging an amp based on RMS Watts but not allowing it to play to full potential.

IMHO, all else being equal, the 1/4 mile is too short a distance in which to appreciate the 100HP gains. A track with long straigh sections will be the best. If the SS pulls ahead by 0.1-0.25s per lap, in as little as 10 laps it will have a 1-2.5s lead. That is as good as a lifetime in race time.

I was much more interested in the new camaro before it came out. now that people have been driving it, it seems that almost everybody thinks it is poorly designed all-around car with a powerful engine as the saving grace. Sounds like the same reasons the mustang outsold the camaro before the hiatus.

I'm going to build me a track car one of these days and it will most likely be a Miata with a 327 SBC and Ford T-Bird rear end. 300hp+ in a car that would weigh in around 2200-2400lbs and still have almost perfect 50/50 weight distrubtion.

To use your analogy; on a race track with twists and turns, (much more fun than a track with long straights anyway), the Mustangs lighter weight and better handling would enable it to pull away from an SS in stock trim. A supercharger would give the GT an even greater advantage.
