GI Joe to suck worse than Transformers 2?

The thing that bugs me about movies like this is, they KNOW it will still make money even if they don't make a good movie. They just need to make their money in the first week or two before people start saying "it sucked" and they lose their audience. They COUNT on it.

You CAN make a movie that has hot chicks, explosions and still have at least a little story to make it worth while :)

yeah, i know a good story makes a big difference. and a bad story does make a movie suck. the last indiana jones movied sucked, sucked bad.

oh. and as far as "stories" go. i think hollywood has long run out of original stories (a few exceptions). we watched curious case bengi button, the other day. to me, that was an original story. and i really liked it. if it were 4hrs long, it would have been even better. as they left some loose ends. i like good stories. makes me forget about my gear, and life. and be the fly on the wall of another moment in time. oh, TAKING CHANCE = GREAT STORY !

Seriously, I have no life.
...

to me, these kind of movie are not about the story. its about the ACTION !!!
Well, I do love the action, however, action without a story on film, is hard to follow and wouldn't. So, a story is important to follow the movie.
While I heard of GI Joe of the past, I am not familiar with the story or characters. So, any changes from the old is immaterial to me.:D

The problem with Button was the fact that it was basically a rehash of Forrest Gump, just in reverse (same director). So even though it was a good concept, I don't think they completely pulled it off.

Forrest Gump is coming to BD this fall as well :D

I was a kid then. I used to collect the comics and watched the cartoon. I still have many of the action figures as well (which I should probably ebay some day). So any changes they made will just annoy me to no end I'm sure.

I'm debating taking my kid to see GI Joe. I am pretty sure it'll be a bunch of mindless action, but that's okay to watch in theaters sometimes.

I saw Transformers 2 (with my 6 yr old son who loved it) and to be honest, I don't remember a thing about it. I remember a lot of explosions, more desert, and two comic-relief Transformers that got quickly annoying.

Watched GI Joe last. I went in expecting a total turd and 10 minutes in I found that not only was it much better than I expected but I was actually enjoying it. Then I got about 20 minutes in, and by 30 minutes in I realized it was much worse than I originally expected. Bad acting and too much way over the top cgi. It could have actually been a great mindless popcorn flick if they had just toned it down a bit.

I saw Transformers 2 right after GI Joe. Compared to GI Joe it was stellar. Starts out ok, then just started wearing on me by the middle of the movie. And by the end, it was just about cool special effects - not much more to it. All I wanted was to be entertained, not wowed or awestruck or to see something deep and meaningful, just some brainless, entertainment, Damn was I dissapointed.

me, i try not to analyze. just takes away from the movie.

Gump should have been one of the first movies on BD

i am old enough for the original gi joe thing. never got into it. i was into building model cars and rockets.
