C'mon...no excuses!! You got to -3 in those conditions and threw it away in those same conditions.....it is what is is..LOL

:)

Maybe you should have played the Nike MOJO instead? HEH

Really...nice round....I can relate to the ending all too well. As an avid golfer myself, I know all too well how it feels to throw away a good round at the end.

PS.....DID you read my recent golf thread?? I shot my career round just two weeks ago!!! I was bordering on choking my guts out, but somehow finished Birdie, par, Birdie, Birdie to smash my previous best round by 3 shots!!'

A -4......68 BABY!!
I missed that thread. I'll be sure to find it and congratulate you there :p

Strong finish. Nicely done... Just curious, whats your handicap?

My current index is 1.5 with some thanks to the 68. For most of 2009...my index has hovered in the 2's......(which translates to a 3 course handicap on most decent courses)

PS

I just realized I never posted my "historic round" thread here.....LOL I also participate in a golf forum, and I must have only posted the thread there.
(the historic round was 2 weekends ago this sunday)

I needed 6 birdies and 1 eagle to finish with a 68:D Don't even ask about the 14th hole!! (an easy par3) I missed the green in a bad spot, hit a very nice pitch from the horrible spot to leave myself a very manageable downhill 6-footer for par.....and I 3-jacked for a double bogey 5!! I also made 2 bogeys......(the other bad holes)....couple those with the good holes...it added up to -4:)

Ya gotta love golf....no matter how well you play (even the best round of your life) and there's always something left to b!tch about!!!!

Seriously, I have no life.
I had two three putts... that makes much more sense... :D

Both on the closing 4 holes of the first round. A total of 62 putts for the two rounds. I hit a lot of greens, just didn't put well.
I'll tell you what- in my first post of this thread I mentioned that I had an 85 with 46 putts and if I averaged 31/round, I would have had a 70.

That day, I couldn't hit a 2 footer to save my life but on the par 3 8th, my tee shot went far right, pin was far left on a wide, shallow green with a healthy slope from the back down to the front. I was sitting there, about 50' from the pin looking at a put with about 10' of break and I nailed it!

Next hole, back to the crap.

I told my friend that I was going to market a putter with the shaft mounted to the head at an odd angle, the face would be convex and there would be no mark for lining it up. It would be called 'Nemesis'.

My wife finally got around to getting me my 30th birthday present today: a brand new driver (2009 Taylor Made Burner- not the R9), Callaway X-20 irons, a new gap wedge (Cleveland CG12 52 degrees), and a new golf bag to put it all in. The only clubs I kept from my previously cobbled together set were a relatively brand new Taylor Made Burner 3H, a 56 degree CG 12, and my Odyssey putter.

I'm so psyched to go out next weekend! :D:D

Here's an update on my "putting". I no longer need to put that word in quotes because, after going to the course for some practice and missing randomly to one side or the other, I gave up on the cross-handed grip that had originally helped so much. I stood there, closed my eyes, gripped the putter with whatever felt "right" and moved my feet to a comfortable position. When I opened my eyes again, I saw that I had placed the putter just inside of my right heel and my stance was very open (my feet were about 1-1/2' apart and my left toes were about even with my right heel if a line was drawn parallel to the ball's path. My right foot would be square to the path). I started by finding a path to the cup that would have no break (I thought that if I can make straight putts by trusting my aim, I should be able to make the ones that break if I read them properly). I began from about 15' away and started making them consistently after I stopped taking so long, giving myself the chance to second-guess every putt. I have lost my yips, I trust me reads and the number of one putt holes has increased dramatically. I have made the vast majority of my straight putts and the ones I didn't were due to corrent line but wrong distance. I have more birdies and pars than ever before and since I got some help with my grip, my drives are longer and in the fairway much more often. I have putted for eagle 4 times, even on holes approaching 600 yards.

I'm a happy camper. That means, the game of golf has me right where it wants me.
NICE!!!! Very nice....OK, now I am confused. Can you please explain that again?

HEH

The really funny thing is it's a west coast golfers forum.....and I live in the midwest.
LOL...don't ask...I just stumbled/hacked my way into this forum and never left. good peeps...good golf talk!!

Anyway....I am considered a regular there and use the same userID there as well. They tolerate this Buckeye_Nut rather nicely. During college football season...it gets really fun!! LOL.... IE....the Buckeyes Play USC in september.

Thats awesome. The x20 is a great iron for sure. And of course I like your wedges. :D
Congrats.

I'd settle for a cousin of hers. Or a friend. An acquaintance would be fine, too. Maybe even just a picture that she could pull from a magazine...

From the first time I borrowed a Cleveland wedge that my father had, I knew those were the only wedges I'd ever want to use again :D. Seriously, it was like a transformative experience!!

As for my wife- she only has a brother... sorry guys!

One question for you or for Buckeye- aside from Craiglist or eBay, could you recommend another site/forum to sell clubs? I have a brand new X20 SW that came with the set I bought that I do not need (since I love the CGs).

If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the set? Can you return the wedge? Whats the set made of, ie 4-P + Sand? Shops don't have to sell 8 club sets. You'll get the full retail price back. That single club won't be easy to for anywhere near what retail is.

Bought the set at Golfsmith. I asked about not buying the 8th club, no dice unfortunately. The X-20s were already selling for $200 below "retail" price, given that they are no longer the most current model, so I wasn't really going to complain too much given that they were $499.

Not too worried about getting full retail price, just want to make something back.

Sorry....I can't be of much help.

I buy all of my equipment from a brick/mortar golf shop where I can test clubs on a launch monitor and get fitted by a pro. I highly recommend a proper club fitting for all golfers..... properly fitted equipment makes a difference.

That's probably why I shot 120+ one day and then shot an 83 two days later.

Any way, my name is Chris, and I have a disease.
LOL.... Jekyl and Hyde......I can relate!!

Once about 9 yrs ago(I was probably a 6-9hc at the time), I caught a terrible case of the shanks and shot a 51 front nine. I think the tasty hotdog at the turn cured them....because I closed out the finishing nine with a 1 under par 35.

To this day, that remains as my best example of Jekyl/Hyde golf......
