2 x ProMedia Ultra Subs

I have the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 set and I have an extra sub for it as well.
Can I use two subs with it? It has a SWS link port but I have no idea how to make it work.

I'm pretty sure those were designed to allow you to use 2 subs, I know the GMX-A promedia is, but not sure about the THX promedias. Did you read the owners manual?

i don't have a manual.
i am using an RCA cable to connect them, is this the correct cable to use?

sadly the manual doesn't say much.
it says i need the kllipsch promedia sws subwoofer which i hope does not mean a special subwoofer.

Hi. This question has come up before in the thread linked here. There are a few posts to read there, but the good news is that you can hook up any powered sub that you want.

theo only issue is that i thnk the SWS LINK ports are output only, I have already tried connecting both of them via RCA cable with no success.

Let me make sure that I understand. You have two of the exact same subwoofer? If so, I don't think that will be a problem - but I want to verify that before I explain how to connect them.

EDIT: Well, maybe it could be a problem. If the answer to my above question is "yes," do you have the control module for the second subwoofer?

correct. i am also wondering if i may need a second control pod.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. Can you turn the subwoofer on without the control pod? If not, then that's the only problem that I can think of.

i have no way of telling if it is actually on or not but the one that is currently hooked up to my system i need to hit the power button on the control pod.
so i guess i will try to find another control pod.

Unless I could mod it to be always on :)

I would contact Klipsch customer service to see what they have to say.

I already sent them an email as well, hopefully they will respond soon.

damn, "Unfortunately you can not hook those two subs together."

If you can find a way to apply power to the second sub (e.g. with a second controller), you could connect the subwoofer output from the first sub into the subwoofer/center channel input on the second sub. You'd need a splitter that goes from a stereo minijack to two RCAs to do that, but it's easy to do. Let us know if you're interested and have questions about that.

I have a bunch of those type cables and I already tried using one but there was no power so it did not work. I just wish I could somehow test it before I purchase a second controller.

I haven't found one, yet, but you could try to find a splitter cable for the DIN connection between the controller and the sub. If you could find one, then you could connect your one controller to both subs.

hmm that would be interesting. is that all it is, a DIN connector?
edit: yes it is, a 9 pin one

So about going RCA to mini jack

"Unfortunately that is not how they were design so I can not recommend trying that, it may blow the amps or subs itself. "

and

"I am not sure if it would work or not, I do not believe it would harm the first sub "

If you were able to split the cable for the control module, then you wouldn't have to link the two subs together. You could split the subwoofer line-level connection coming from the PC (over the minijack) and send that to both subs.
