Congress approved 200 mil us, for 3 new Gulfstreams to ferry senior members around:rolleyes: Only a few months ago they were ripping bailout executives of broke companies for flying in private jets, now that the Government is broke they want the same thing. Nice that they put it into a defense bill.

Since the factory that builds wings for the Gulfstreams is in my area and hired me in college for an internship I'm all for it. I'll also say this is a far better use of our money than bailing out banks. People do real work on those planes not made up work.

Im all for employment, but 2oo mil to fly congressional members is BS. The senior members already have Air Force transports at their service. Whats wrong is the planes will be used for as much bull as benefit. Its ok for congress to say that no convenstions can be held in cities like Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas and hurt local economies that can handle their accomadtions but they can spend money on themselves in the form of nicer air travel (our money) when commercial jets will do and discourge frivolous travel.

It's typical of them. They wave carrots in front of the American peoples' eyes and take tehir attention off of what they're doing.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the screen". Sound familiar?

Effin' hypocrites make me sick!

I meant the way his melon hit the ground. Serves him right for getting mad. That never helps anyone's golf game. I know, I've tried it.

Three jets, huh? That's one for Pelosi, one for Frank and one for Reid. That must be the executive compensation package for destroying the world economy. They must be feeling mighty pleased with themselves right now.
But they're helping the economy by ordering these. Don't you get that?

In a sick twisted sort of way.

I'm not condoning their actions, but they are doing far worse with our money than these planes. I won't be smokescreened by this when they flush money down the toilets in so many other areas. Maybe if they bought planes instead of giving banks Trilions. We'd be better off. It'd produce jobs at least.

You're just picking on Barney Frank because he's gay. The hypocrites in congress need planes and planes need wings, Dam it.:D

Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., a recipient of more than $40,000 in campaign donations from Fannie Mae – was once romantically involved with a Fannie Mae executive Herb Moses. http://businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080924145932.aspx

Frank was and remains a stalwart defender of Fannie Mae, which is now under FBI investigation along with its sister organization Freddie Mac, American International Group Inc. (NYSE:AIG) and Lehman Brothers (NYSE:LEH) – all recently participants in government bailouts. But Frank has derailed efforts to regulate the institution, as well as denying it posed any financial risk. Frank’s office has been unresponsive to efforts by the Business & Media Institute to comment on these potential conflicts of interest.

It's perfect when a Presidential election plan and a recession plan all come together.;)

Great link, Rick. I think everybody should read it. I can't believe that Frank has been able to evade all responsibility for his actions over the last decades. BTW, I didn't know he was gay. Of course, that's irrelevant to my interest in US politics and economics.
