You and I have different tastes.
I said 'kind of' pretty and you have to be able to see past the fact that this is a mug shot not a glamor shot but your point about me not being much interested in anorexic 12 year olds with implants stands.

I know that she only looks 12 to me because I am 44 completely fed up with my own youth, never mind other peoples' youth. Besides I need 'em to have a little meat on their bones so that they can put up a fight. I'd hate to dislocate her hip accidentally.

On the flip side, I'm skinny - so I worry about my hip. :D

Adam W. can hook you up. You've seen some of his PM pictures. Your brain might not let you remember them, but you've seen them. :)

I was really moved by the monologue from The Matrix which Agent Smith gave (when he was trying to break Morphius). It felt like a hard punch in the gut and almost brought me to tears.

Agent Smith:

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure.

---------------------

Historically, there are several examples to show that every time a civilization has met the most basic of human needs (food, shelter and clothing) to a point where they are no longer a concern, the baser of human instincts take over and eventually lead to the fall of that civilization. If not, it get taken over by one more advanced (usually militarily) than it. What we are seeing today is simply the modern manifistation of the same trend. The diffenence is that the demarcation between one civilization and another is blurred and military strength is not the only way to dominate the world.

That said, we have to realize that not all is bad and or a lost cause. It is simply a reality that bears witness to the infinite diversity and capacity (for good and bad) in the human race. Like everything in the universe, at some point the human race will stabilize. We just dont know when or in what form.

Early on in that exchange I opted out.
Maturity and wisdom enable one to establish effective boundaries. ;) :p

At work today I actually told one of the Mexican youngsters (24) that he would understand when he was older. I took pleasure in that. The kid looked irked. :)

Humans become a virus when they adopt concepts like 'Manifest Destiny'. The Native Americans had the 'Respect the Earth and use only what we need' concept, but the settlers pretty much put the kaibosch on that remaining. Now, we have tree huggers who think they can save the planet by stopping logging, fishing, hunting and agriculture. The problem is that the native species and plants are all in completely different balance now, which means many transplanted species will flourish while the native ones will whither and die.
