sorry........again i have to disturb u all.............i asked promises instuments regarding Onkyo HT-S5105.......they told me it will cost me 39,990 INR........is it ok???coz its way over my budget..........look i can compromise with HDMI video input/output but not with analog 5.1 channel input & optical/coaxial input.............nd i am looking for HTiB with preamp subwoofer output..........coz active subs are always better than passive ones..............onkyo HT-S3100/S3105 have passive subs..............please suggest any other HTiBs within my price range which have analog 5.1 channel input with preamp sub output..........thnx in advance.............
Hi somantak,

Because you live in Kolkata, India; only you can decide that. There are just too many factors and variables involved with the money business from one country to another, that you need an Iternational Expert in currency exchange, conversion, taxes, fees, duties, manufacture transports, dealer reates, airport and truck transport tarifs, International and Country taxes, and so much more...

We already gave you all the links you need, there is not much more that we can do at this point. I recommend that you ask advice from close friends in India.
It is your money after all, and it is your own and final decision, at which sytem suits you best.
You are already in a very good path, just keep going till you got your features for the price you want to pay.
Again, look also at Yamaha (if avail), Denon, and Onkyo; from what we have found so far. That should give you plenty of leeway for your needs.
For example, look at the Onkyo model before the one you mentioned.
Or perhaps, try to stretch your budget a bit. It is a concession, a compromise that only you can make.

Cheers,

Bob

P.S. Good luck & say Hi to your family from us here at Audioholics, from the great North American continent. :)

Hey somantak,

Nice to receive a big Hello from your family all the way from Kolkata, India. :)
It feels very cool man, truly.

All right, your system price is right on, but with a hitch.
The 5.1-channel analog input is usually for connecting a Universal DVD player that can play Mutichannel SACD & DVD Audio.
But in your case, it's different, because your PC only has 5.1-channel analog output (this is the first time in my life, I really believe, that I heard that, I never thought that it could exist, only digital Opt. or Coax., or 2-channel stereo analog outputs); so, iven if that Onkyo HTIB was free, it is absolutely useless for you. You need to keep searching till you find that famous 5.1-channel analog input from the receiver, it's a must feature in your particular situation. So, just forget about that Onkyo HT-S3200 system all together, and start all over again in your search.

With patience and diligence, you will eventually find your system, I'm sure of it. It might cost a bit more than your initial budget, perhaps about 33,000 INR,
but it ain't that bad, only 3,000 INR more, I'm sure your family can help you out with this very small balance (about $68 USA).

ar.prasath here just above is a good man, he should be able to help you out, and in exchange, I'll help him out. Sounds like a fair deal? :)
Again, try to look at the next Onkyo model, and look at few different places if you can make a deal with one of them, everything in life is bargainable (talking about material things here, of course).
Also, and again, look at the Denon & Yamaha models, for that famous 5.1-channel analog input connectivity feature.
You alrady know few audio stores, and from these stores, they can refer you to other stores. A fair dealer would do that.

Now, I will let ar.prasath take over from here, and I'm going to join him now, trying tpo help him out.

Cheers & HI again to your very sweet family, I just love them already, before I even met them. :)

A few Setup Tips.

dude, in the process of helping u out, atlast i bought the denon htib.. :D

Hey Hi ar.,

Denon, sounds cool man.

Problem: PS3 = no problem so far.

* Got you, SOLUTION is: you don't need the digital Optical cable from your PS3 dig. Opt. Out. Because you already have the HDMI connection taking care of the Audio/Video of all the type of discs that you can throw at your PS3.

** In the Audio Menu Setup of your PS3, from the Digital HDMI menu one:
1. Select "Multich Linear PCM".

** In the digital Optical audio setup: Select "Bitstream".
---> But you don't really need to use that connection, because you are already all set, from the HDMI connection. Comprende?
The HDMI connection will allow you to decode all the audio codecs from your PS3 and your receiver, no problem at all. :)
---> But if you really still want to use it, in addition to the HDMI one, just Select: Bitstream, from the audio digital optical out, of your PS3 menu. That's all there is to it.

===>>> Additional tips.
* AUDIO Setup: Under digital HDMI, Select all.
HDMI Audio Out:
1. Mutich Linear PCM = Yes (Select)
2. Stereo LPCM = Yes (Select)
3. Dolby Digital 5.1 = Yes (Select)
4. Dolby Digital 6.1 EX = Yes (Select)
5. DTS 5.1 = Yes (Select)
6. DTS 6.1 EX = Yes (Select)
7. DTS 6.1 ES = YES (Select)
8. DTS 96/24 = YES (Select)
9. LPCM 44.1 khz = YES (Select)
10. LPCM 48.2 khz = Yes (Select)
11. LPCM 88.2 khz = Yes (Select)
12. LPCM 96.4 khz = Yes (Select)
13. LPCM 176.4 khz = Yes (Select)*
14. LPCM 192.8 khz = NO (Don't select)

Digital Optical Audio Out = Bitstream (Select)

* Optional.

Now, for VIDEO Setup in the Video menu from your PS3.
HDMI VIDEO Out:

1. YCbCr or RGB = Automatic (Select)
2. Super White = ON (Select)
3. RGB = Full (Select)
4. 1080p/24 = Automatic (Select)
5. SD-DVD Upscaler (for 1080p output) = Normal (Select)
*6. Automatic Setup for HDMI display = 1080p (Accept)
*7. Automatic Setup for HDMI choices = Yes (Accept)

* Depending on your TV display resolution capability (But these are pretty Standard Selections).
____________________

Last but not least:

Read the manual from your PS3 throughout and thoughtfully.
And do the same with your new Denon A/V receiver.

Let me know how things work out?

Cheers,
Bob

P.S. If your satisfied with the results, try to give a nice hand to somantak_g. :)
I'm sure he'll greatly appreciate that, and working as a team is very rewarding at the end.

Nice to hear from you somantak.
As long that you got what you want (5.1-channel analog input from the receiver), you can pretty much choose the one you like the most. Just check their total set of features from their web sites.

Me, personally, I'm not familiar with these particular systems, but because you made the nice effort to do your research, and you give me their model #s, I will check personally on them. Just give me some time (less than 24 hours, or perhaps very very soon), and I will give you my take on it.
But just from what you're giving me right now, I'll say Yamaha system (I like Yamaha a lot, and it's cheaper too, so you save money that you can make good use for eventually :) ); but wait for my full take on it.

* Would you happen to know the model # of the Harman Kardon receiver, plus the the model # also of these JBL speakers? That would help me to compare these two systems, at least. Try to get it. I'm sure you can, it would not only help me, but mainly you.

Talk you quite soon, Cheers,
Bob

Info on maybe your future system, never know...

Hi somantak,

Here's what I got so far on the Yamaha YHT-195 HTIB system.
* The good news id that, YES, it has the required 5.1-channel analog input for your PC connections. :)

More details here:

---------------

The receiver with this system is the HTR-6130BL (same as the RX-V363):

* Front view: @ http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/EnlargedImage.html?CNTID=567347

* Rear view: @ http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/EnlargedImage.html?CNTID=567349

* Remote: @ http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/EnlargedImage.html?CNTID=567348

---------------

So far so good. At 24,000 INR, that's not bad, it's 6,000 INR below your initial budget (not bad at all). But I belive that 24,000 INR is the retail price in India. So you can try to deal it for less, try 20,000 INR, that would be a fair price. And 18,000 INR would be even better. That part is yours to decide, perhaps ask your Dad to deal it for you, or one of your friend that knows about these kind of things, you know... Yeah, a friend with audio experience will be best, to deal it for a very fair price, so you can get the best deal possible.

Anyway, in the US, this HTIB system (YHT-195) retails for $599 USA.

So, what you think so far? At least, it sounds better than before, no? :)

Cheers,
Bob

Hello my good friend from Kolkata, :)

Ok somantak, from all I got, I can make my final recommendation to you. :)
*By the way, here's that HK/JBL dystem:
________________________

CONCLUSION: Get the YAMAHA system, the YHT-195, that is THEE ONE you really want, trust me. You'll be very happy with it, and it's got what you need.

The only remaining question is, what kind of deal you can get it for?
Well, it retails for 24,000 INR, I already told you to try for about 20,000 INR, or even at 18,000 INR.
Now, because dealing is what I breathe in life, I'd say, start your dealing at 16,000 INR (which is only 33% off from list price, quite reasonable offer in my book; actually more than generous offer, in the world we live in, now).
And from there, just get your best price possible.
At the end, you still win because you are much lower than your original budget. And like I already previously said, the extra big chunk of money left over, coul be use for future expenses towards a boat, a motorcycle, or a house, or whatever your heart desire. :)

Very best regards to you and all your family,

Bob

Well, are comfortable with that?
Can you wait that long?
Do you have at least an i-Pod for now?
Are you going to survive the Summer?
Are you going to make it through the Fall?
Are you going to be still alive at Chritmas?
Are you sure the guy is not taking you for a ride?
How much time left in your life?
Are you not worry about getting rob before December?
So you'll end up with no money!
And no money means no Yamaha YHT-195!
Are you gonna be able to sleep?
You got enough food to last you that long?

If you like the idea of paying top bottom price, you know best.

* Meanwhile, you can always check around, and let me know if you find something else good.

Take care of yourself and your love ones (family),
Bob
