There is ways to protect upholstery. I have one at my shop, it works. Not cleaning your upholstery will do more damage, and multitasking driving plus food is the worst of all. Just because you think it's over priced, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Not everything can be had for pennies. A large part of the cost with car detailing is labour, as it's physical work. I just detailed a car for a good friend (the guy that rebuilt my transmission in fact). He gave me a good price, and I was inclined to do him a favor with the detailing. I still charged him 80 bucks for my 3+ hours of work.

Relax, eh... I understand the value of good service... I wasnt arguing that. I'm about preventative maintenance and window tint seems to be a very viable solution.

One time application? Message me when you tint turns purple.

Its always been done professionally and has a lifetime warranty. No bubbling, no color changing here.

Have you ever thought that people won't want to break into you car if they see nothing is in it? If you saw a big door with a giant lock on it, you'd think "Man, I wonder whats behind that door". It could be a pile of gold, or just a pile of ****. Same with tint. They'll think your hiding something, and it could be enough to attract a thief. Also, rule #25, never leave anything you plan on keeping in a car. Doesn't matter what security system you have, it's as good as gone.

Why do you think every SUV or Van or Hatchback has very dark tinted glass? Its to protect the contents. You're just diggin now, brotha..

You shouldn't argue in area's you're unfamiliar with. You should also know that I don't buy into bullshit. When I detail, I do what works. I don't screw people over, and I don't waste product that doesn't need to be used. If you got burned in the past, to bad. Learn to do it yourself.

This isnt about your detailing, or even tint for that matter. Listen up, when you insult somebodies intelligence (everyone here that has window tint) for something that they did that was based on being practical, expect to get called out. I wasnt the only one. Again, you havent earned that right. Lets get this straight, Brian... You called me a "loser" first and then you puff up when I step up the plate. I'm as easy going as they come but what I can't stand is a little punk that hides behind his computer screen and is so damn insecure he feels the need to be-little those he thinks he's somehow better than. I've read enough of your posts and know about enough of your interests that I care nothing about but I'm not gonna behave like a freakin 6 year old and call you names. I'll take the high road and not return the red chicklet.

Jamie called me out when I got on my horse a while back and for that I'm very thankful as he had a right to call me out. Consider this a favor payed forward.

I know you're very passionate about your profession, but I think it's obvious when a thread is hijacked by our passions that we may have overstepped it a bit.

Plus I think context changes a person's perspective on this. I live in the south of our country which means I have to do stuff to keeping my car from melting inside. Tinting is a very effective method for this. Cars get insanely hot down here. so hot I've seen CD's melt before. My cousin lost a credit card one time he left in his car. When you put your hand on the steering wheel and get burns you'll likely change your tune. Even with sun sheilds and cracked windows my car gets to 120 degrees daily in the summer.

Back on topic.
The fact California would ban it is stupid and unreasonable. I think enforcing that law is even dumber. I could see it as a nice slap on someone deserving more fines, but Darien's just an honest hard working Aher. So these tickets aren't justified.

Appreciate you bringing this back on topic. I agree, it does seem unreasonable and a stretch to find additional revenue streams. Perhaps they could just charge for permits if this was truly the case. There are some serious safety issues for LEOs when tinting gets too dark, but surely there is a middle ground. 35% seems plenty safe to me, and provides both parties with an adequate solution.

I think that the original topic was that there are a lot of exra cops out on the roads lately giving tickets for everything they can. Please keep an eye open and drive safe.

Naw Dude, Darien's straight. I'm pretty sure he's married. :D
Indeed I am. But this is California, just being married doesn't always mean you're straight. I know some people that tried to play the role, even so far as having kids, but then eventually had to be themselves.

actually the last cop who pulled me over was a very attractive blonde woman. If I were a single man I wouldn't mind her searching me.
Nice. Remember that scene in Cannonball Run, where the 2 hot chicks in the Lamborghini would get out of tickets?

I was watching one of those "Cops" types of shows about a month ago, where a male cop had pulled over a couple of bimbos in a 350z. The cop tells her that he pulled her over for doing 34mph in a 25mph zone. The girl says, "But everyone knows you can go 10mph over." The cop tells her that isn't correct. Then she asks the cop if he can just give her a warning. He asks her why she should just get a warning. Get this, the girls says, "I'm pretty." And he did!!!!! He just gave her a warning.

I couldn't believe it. The girl admits to driving 10mph over the speed limit all the time and then expects to be let off because she's hot. Then the jackass cop feeds into her ego and distorted view of reality by confirming that hot chicks don't get tickets. Lame.

I have done all of my cars except the current one with 50% up front and 35% on the rears. Cops tend to notice the tint on the rears and because of that, they don't even seem to notice that the front ones are tinted at all because they are so much lighter.
Unfortunately, my car came with Roush covers on the side back windows, and I think this is part of the problem. Cops can't see those back windows, so they can't see the difference from front to back.

Thats your problem. That car is a cop magnet:D
It looks nice though. They might leave you alone if you put an "I love cops" bumper sticker on your car.

LOL

I crack up when I see cars with those stickers on them. Come on, you can't tell me cops actually fall for that.
