I want a rootbeer float.
Have you seen the new A&W floats in a bottle at the grocery store? I enjoy rootbeer floats, but for some reason the sight of those bottles makes me nauseous.

Hmmm... never seen one in its natural habitat.

Yummy, Ice Cream FLAVOR.

That does sound pretty gross. I'll grab one later and do a review.

Nice! Just what I want- a lukewarm bottle of root beer with a clot of unfrozen something that's supposed to be ice cream.

In AZ heavy tint is needed. I had a car that was well over 15 years old with heavy tint and the interior still looked brand new (although the paint on the oustide sure didnt. ) In the Phoneix area I see less and less actual patrol cars and more and more radar vans and photo radar poles being installed. They are on every major freeway here in Phoenix and surrounding areas. They have portable vans everywhere also. I hope this means more officers are out protecting us and investigating real crimes and not just out writing tickets.

Although my radiator belt broke on the freeway a few days ago and I saw a few cops (but not one stopped to see if I needed any help) which would have been nice considering it was 5pm in AZ and the temp was 115 (hotter on the freeway mind you)

But in AZ the cops don't really bust you on tint unless your actually using "Limo Tint" otherwise they don't care.

MatthewB, I don't know if you read my previous post in this thread, but that 3M stuff is awesome. It outperforms black limo tint in heat blockage, no contest, even when so much lighter in color. However, it's costly. Thought you might be interested.

I see that, too. It bothers me that they don't stop to see if someone needs help. "Protect and Serve," right?

Since I didn't read the entire thread, nor do I intend to (mostly because it's probably the only reason I think this is funny anyway) how did this thread go from "cops are out in force" to "you should try this rootbeer float"?:D

Ah, keep your stick on the ice, Brian.

Its one thing to be "that guy" and arbitrarily ruffle up some feathers, but its a completely different animal when your just plain wrong.

To your first comment. UV rays and heat damage upholstery. Thats a fact.

To the second, while there may be other ways, tinting can eliminate 99% of UV rays and is a one time application.

OF COURSE a detailer trying to sell product wouldn't want me to have my windows tinted, hows he gonna sell me overpriced services if I dont need em?
There is ways to protect upholstery. I have one at my shop, it works. Not cleaning your upholstery will do more damage, and multitasking driving plus food is the worst of all. Just because you think it's over priced, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Not everything can be had for pennies. A large part of the cost with car detailing is labour, as it's physical work. I just detailed a car for a good friend (the guy that rebuilt my transmission in fact). He gave me a good price, and I was inclined to do him a favor with the detailing. I still charged him 80 bucks for my 3+ hours of work.

One time application? Message me when you tint turns purple.

Have you ever thought that people won't want to break into you car if they see nothing is in it? If you saw a big door with a giant lock on it, you'd think "Man, I wonder whats behind that door". It could be a pile of gold, or just a pile of ****. Same with tint. They'll think your hiding something, and it could be enough to attract a thief. Also, rule #25, never leave anything you plan on keeping in a car. Doesn't matter what security system you have, it's as good as gone.

You shouldn't argue in area's you're unfamiliar with. You should also know that I don't buy into bullshit. When I detail, I do what works. I don't screw people over, and I don't waste product that doesn't need to be used. If you got burned in the past, to bad. Learn to do it yourself.

I feel for you man I got pulled over for stupid crap too.

Apparently in our state the tag and inspection are done on different dates.

They tax us to the teeth and give us cops to pulls us over in reverse.
I think traffic enforcement should be reduced a lot.

Tint on the driver and passenger windows is illegal in Ca. Anything over 50% WILL get you pulled over. You can do it with a doctor's recommendation stating that you have certain eye conditions that require it, otherwise you are not allowed to have ANY tint on them. Having said that, I know a guy who owns a shop and has his WINDSHIELD tinted and has never been pulled over. I have them tint all my cars because they do a great job. If you do the 50% tint with the right tone, it looks like factory tint and does not get you pulled over. It still blocks 90% of UV and keeps the car considerably cooler without the hassle of cops.

You pretty much can't do anything to a motor vehicle in Commiefornia.
My car is modified quite a bit. I have been pulled over for it too...and was able to fight the tickets and win becasue all of my gear is CARB legal or exempt.

There are ways to protect cars from the elements and tinting happens to be one of the best. Oh, and its a multitask-er. I'd hate to mention them all again, but one of the reasons I have tint is that I frequently have to carry valuable things that I don't want the real "losers" thinking they need to make their own. Tinting also provides accident protection. If my side glass breaks, the tint will keep most of the glass together instead of it being sent through my spleen.

Point is brotha, you dont have to like it, it might not be for you but don't take something practical, cost saving, energy saving, that a lot of people here do and call them losers. Sorry, you havent earned that right.

Now that I look at it, almost every "exotic" car I can find has relatively dark windows. I'd hate to be the "loser" driving an Enzo. Gosh, how embarrassing.

I wonder if my sunglasses are too dark, I'd hate to be a loser.
That's some funny stuff. One of the best posts I've read in a while.

They definitely make it difficult. But you just have to make sure that what you have on your car is CARB legal. On my heavily modified 95, I got popped for having an adjustable fuel pressure regulator by the guy doing my smog check. He not only failed me, but it put me on a list that forced me to take my car to the local referee, who proceeded to go over my car with a fine toothed comb. He made me get CARB numbers for my cats, my headers, my Cobra intake, my Cold-air induction kit, it was a complete pain in the ***!!!

I even found out that my mass air meter, which Granatelli Motorsports said was CARB legal, was in fact not legal! So I just switched it back to the stock one. The only thing I couldn't get a CARB number for was the pressure regulator, so I had to take it off. Gimme a break, how does fuel pressure affect emmissions?!?!?

The worst thing about it was, that even with all of my mods, the damn car would still pass smog, so what's the problem?!?!?

Recently they were talking about installing red-light cameras in SF. I don't drive in SF very often, but any kind of automated ticket generating program bugs me.

Thanks. I didn't know you could do this!
Give it a try. It definitely makes the board more enjoyable.

I just wish that it would make all of his posts disappear completely. Currently, it shows a blank spot where one of his posts are and says, "This user is on your ignore list." I would prefer that it take them out completely so I can't see that he posted at all. Wipe his presence off the face of the board, so to speak.

I have done all of my cars except the current one with 50% up front and 35% on the rears. Cops tend to notice the tint on the rears and because of that, they don't even seem to notice that the front ones are tinted at all because they are so much lighter.
