So i picked up a yamaha rx-v663 to replace my old receiver. The problem i am having is that my bass is really low almost not even there. I checked and everything is plugged in correct and messed with some of the settings but cant seem to figure it out. Can someone maybe give me some recommended settings?

Welcome to the forum!

What speakers and sub are you using?

My initial guess would be that the speakers were set to "Large" (probably by the auto set-up routine). If that's the case, set them to "Small" and try a crossover frequency of 80 Hz to begin with.

Also, have you calibrated the sound levels for the speakers and the sub? It's also possible that the subwoofer volume is just too low.

hello, i will check and look for those settings. The sub is an infinity ps-8 and the speaker are infinity primus. the bass was nice with my old receiver so i know its something that i am doing wrong.

At least with the ones at Monoprice.com, the open screw type allow you to connect the speaker wire through a hole in the side of the plug, whereas the closed screw type always connect the speaker wire through the back end of the plug. At least, that's how I interpret it.

Seriously, I have no life.
I bought a few of those but haven't used them, yet. The front end unscrews, too. Is that just to make it easier to get the wire screwed in from the back in the first place? Thanks.
I am sure there may be another type of end tip for the front to use with those spring clips so you can still use the same body and as need changes, you change the tip only.
