Which option is better?? 2xA2-300 or 1x A3-300

I am ready to purchase in the next few days. I have been circling helplessly on which sub to get, you name it porbably looked at it at some point and whether or not a DIY is in my best interest. So at this point I have decided on my budget and I am ready to purchase from ED. So the question is do I go with 2 of the A2-300's or with a single A3-300. I am confident that I am going to get more output from the duals and better balance in my room. So am I missing anything? Is seems like a no brainer to go with the dual A2-300's. However I just want to be sure I am not overlooking something, like the driver is much better in the A3-300, but will it matter in the end.

Thanks

Jeff

You only get a marginal increase in output from the two subs, but better room response is a plus. However, having made the move from a 12 to 15 inch subwoofer, a single A5-350 may be your best option if you can swing the extra few dollars and the WAF.

I'd probably go with the dual setup. What are your room's dimensions?

My room is about 24' x 30' x 8'. So fairly large however I have no open walls and the room seems to have excellent accoustics. I noticed a significant improvement in the sound quality when I set up my system in the room.

I prefer two smaller subs over one large one.

Most sound isn't in that lower register and room gain is pretty high under 30hz from what i've seen.

Plus you can put the subs with the mains to get better integration.

I failed to say that I have 2 15 inch subs no co-located in a room 13.5 x 23 x 8.

Two is better but one really good sub goes a long way. Maybe start with one and add one later.

I have 2 AV123 MFW-15s. Been enjoying them for a year now.

For a room that size, to obtain decent visceral impact for the HT experience two of the A5-350s would be wise.

Sounds good. Can you please send an email to my wife and convince her for me? It has taken me 6 month to convince her that I need the two A2-300's.

That being said I am strongly considering going with the A5-350. I am planning to call ED today to discuss which option will give me the most boom for the buck.

So I ended up going with the dual A2-300's. I ordered my first one last week and I will be ordering my second in a few weeks. I will be sure to give my results on performance.

Well my first A2-300 is on it's way. I just pulled some extra money out and will hopefully order the second in a few days. I am pretty excited to see how these babies do compared to my old Infinity BU-2. I have not seen a whole lot of info on these so I will try to post some good pics and impressions on the performance. Thanks to everyone for the help during my past 6 months of reading subwoofer thread after subwoofer thread trying to make the best decision for my needs and budget.

do a complete review of the single unit... and then repeat the same review after you get the second one.. im sure you will see that your gains will be greater than expected..

i only have budget subs.. but when i bought my single pa120 premier acoustic sub... i was completely impressed.. and my room is much bigger than yours..
once i added the second one.. i couldnt believe my ears... truly a night and day difference.. from overall output to low end extension and sound quality

I am hoping you are correct. I spoke with SVS and with ED folks and both said that the dual appoach will really step up the performance. They both believed I would get about 50% increase in output. They said placement will play a big part in that. However with in duals and having better integration it really adds to the perception. Measurable differences are not always the same as percieved differences. So I will see how it shakes out. I guess I may have to buy a cheap Radio Shack SPL meter or something just to help give me some quantifiable data though.

trust your ears... use the measurements as a guideline.. but ultimately it s how you like it that matters..

find materials you like the most.. and just listen (watch) to it listen for every bass note.. every change.. and get used to it.. memorize it.. and then when your second one comes.. then you will be able to see just how much of a change the second one will give.. http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=843868&postcount=2
