hey guys-
I have a 7.2 receiver but am not using the rear "effects" hence it will be used a a 5.2. I will be getting either a 13Ultra or 2 12"Pluses. Now if I run the 2 pluses would I need to run a "y" off of one LFE or should I connect one to each sub output.
*Will this be stereo?
* Any advantages over a "y" splitter
*Do I need to tune each individually
*will they have the same output and playing the same freq?

thanks audioholics!:D

To quote the manual:
Owner's Manual said:
You can connect up to two subwoofers. When two subwoofers are connected, the same sound is output from them.
I suppose the advantage over a y-splitter is that you don't need the splitter. :) There might be some advantage in the output strength over a split signal, but I don't know if you'd notice.

EDIT: If you get two subs, then you'd probably want to check out the "Tips & Tricks" section on "Get Good Bass" where there are articles on setting up multiple subs.

what if..."and this is hypothetical" (sorry office space quote :D)
I put a Y splitter on the receiver (2 male-1 female) so the 2 outputs go into 1 and into one single sub. would it mess up the receiver, or put a higher voltage preout to my sub?

I'm no expert, so this is just my thinking - I wouldn't advise that. I don't know if it would hurt anything, but I can't imagine that it would help anything, either.

I'd add an external unit like a behringer bfd or the unit from SVS to have corection control over both subs as your avr will treat them as a single unit with one crossover.

I'd go the opposite. Put 2 Y's on both sub outs and run 4 subs :D.

Nice use of a good movie quote :)
