Projector setup help

I posted this over on the avs forum but didn't get a response so I figured I would try here.

I just received my Panasonic PT-AX200U and got it all set up. I have a few questions that I thought somebody on here could help me with. As I have setup right now the projector sits about 12 feet back from my 106" screen. The projector is ceiling mounted about 2" above the top of the screen. I am however having a heck of a time getting the focus right. It seems no matter what I do it is either blurry at the top or bottom of the screen, depending how I focus it. Is this normal because I am close to the extent of the horizontal lens shift?

There is no obvious reason for this as I have set this projector up similarly and have maintained VERY solid focus even at the full extent of the zoom range.

What I would ask is whether or not you have used any keystone correction at all. You should not have used any keystone correction, but should have maintained a perfectly level projector which is square to the screen.

The follow up option/idea, even though it is a pain, is to pull the projector down and to set it on a table towards the center of the screen height and to see if you have the same issue.

Realistically, it sounds a bit like you may not have something square. The projector should be perfectly level - not tilted down at all.

The screen should be vertical.

If this is the case, I would expect the projector to perform very well and be extremely sharp with all test patterns.

If not, then I would be calling Panasonic for warranty issues.

The projector is perfectly level with no keystone correction. It is ceiling mounted and I even used a level to make sure it is perfectly level front to back and side to side. I do remember reading a post on here at some point saying the the picture may become distorted a bit at the extents of the lens shift range but i am sure if that is what's happening in my case. Anyone else have any ideas?

zoom it out some and see if you can't get it to focus. If you can then you will know you are out of your range. Also do you have it in front projection mode.

Yes it is in front projector mode and I don't think it is out of range as the lens has a fair amount of rotation left both ways.
