Oh, man... I was reading this article not too long ago... about these two other stars that astronomers just recently found... these stars have almost the exact same molecular makeup of earth... an atmosphere capable of sustaining life... h20... the works. These places are sum hundred billion lightyears away... but it's possible! :)

This article isn't about the planets... but it's about a NASA mission that's main goal is to find life-supporting planets in solar systems rather than our own.

:confused:Um, dude…I don’t think stars have an atmosphere or water. Plus, they tend to be kind of hot :p:D

Meh, I guess I meant big balls of rock that sport an atmosphere and h20 -

However, who are WE to say that there is no chance of a star supporting human life? Anything is possible in this galaxy/universe... :p

Pardon my mistake, though :D

Res6jy - that's all good and fun, but even if we built a space ship that could travel the speed of light, we would be long and dead before reaching that planet.

If we could make a space ship that travels the speed of light, I would also hope we would have harnessed the power of cryogenic freezing by then...

If not, then I loose all faith in humanity. :D

Look at what we've done to the climate.
We have done little to influence this.

If "global warming" were true, the median temperature would always continue to increase due to a depleted ozone.

I am not going to start a debate on this but it is far from proven.

There is this thing about particles hitting the atmosphere of earth with a speed higher than light, it's been observed but I'm not sure how well documented this is.... so how is this possible?

Well speed of light is a barrier that's impossible to break so... for these particles... time goes backwards and it's impossible for them go reach a speed as low as the speed of light....

And NO, it's not a joke

If the energy level from Sun suddenly dropped by sth between 0.5 and 1% we would immediately enter a new Ice Age... the energy levels from Sun has been known to be unstable at times and this may happen....

So humankind influences of climate may be overrated, although we should be serious about what we do and reduce CO2 emissions dramatically, but what we do may be miniscule compared to mother nature....

I think this is going to change physics quite a lot - once they start running their tests, they are going to discover so much more about our universe!

And once they learn the history of the universe, we are going to learn about our future and what we need to worry about, seeing as history repeats itself. :D
