Yes my future dreams should be obvious do those who know me.

I figured this would be a fun project so i'm open to your ideas.

I plan to post some crazy ideas. I"m a programmer so if I need to code something that's not a problem.

- hand gestures recognition. You could use a webcam and IR leds (touch is overrated :D )
- ambilight (check something like Boblight
- room correction software
- control the rest of the equipment (including lights)
- connected to media server (no noise and heat in the living room)
- must be hidden or be a beauty

- the ability to deliver you a beer with the push of one remote button
- and the ability to cook a steak... medium rare... and use the extra case heat to bake a potato.

The irony of your posts is much of that would be trivial with the right budget for me. :)

I'm actually going to use a micro atx HTPC case and a micro ATX motherboard.

The DCX 2496 does all that a theater needs for eqing. :) I was thinking of running my fronts through it into the analog inputs. Might be fun to play with.

You mean using a HTPC as a Pre-Pro and connect to an External Amp via analog outputs?

Well, it should definitely do everything that a $5K Denon Receiver can do.:D

Actually, it should do even MORE with all those software outthere.:D

For example, PowerDVD 8 & 9 has MLP-decoders for DVD-Audio playback and my AVR-5308CI can't do that.

The HTPC should have audio decoders for DTS-HD MA and TrueHD and 1080p Video Upscaler.

Wait, can you make it 4K-Video "ready" for when it comes out?

Definitely needs to have WiFi for Internet Radio, etc., and Tuners for Radio and HDTV, etc.

Hey were talking pre-amp hehe. Not cd/dvd players.

I will resist requirements creep lol. Plus I have no positive feelings toward PowerDVD software.

I got a PS3 for a reason. But hey a nice blu-ray player could be a good upgrade.:)
