I actually would much rather enjoy these kappas to their fullest before I consider new drivers Geez I didnt even finish these boxes yet :) I'm still learning about this DCX to get it all on the same page.I would just build new boxes for a new driver anyway hence the name sawzalot I just dont mind building boxes,Ill need more clamps ??
Yeah. I figured this is trivial for you. The DCX is a great tool to learn. It's essential to having good sub response. And if you can I suggest getting a nice amp for it. Heck with the right setup you could even use the DCX to crossover your high and mid sections. Of course I've seen many speaker builders end up wanting a passive crossover for highs and mids in posts at the AVSforum. This DCX is a good tool until you figure out crossovers a bit more. Of course if you loose all patience I'll be happy to provide my address.:p

I was suggesting for your mains.

With the DCX you can eq your entire front setup.

Get a pair of A500s they are fanless and probably sufficient for your use.

You can also get more EPs but they are a bit overkill for your mains IMO.

Oh yeah definitely. Hook it the front 3 via the DCX. You can integrate and eq all channels that way.

Hey I don't see any signature with you system. And I'm not sure if I've seen any pictures. So I'm innocent. As far as we know this whole thread could be based on lies. :)

Well its beautiful outside and I believe that these kappas will have a finish on them today and be 100% but no sounds for a few days The dcx did crap the bed two days ago so it already got sent back to Behringer right here in NJ so it shouldnt be long, the crackling and distortion got so bad it just had to be the digital crossover I cant see anywhere else it came from .They offered me the RMA number even though it came from E-Bay ,funny thing the guy on the bay has an authorized store for that product so he hooked me up with the exchange but he would not refund my money so the exchange will be fine for me, well outside to laminate see ya soon with finished pics...

Quick question-What if the back of the driver is in fact touching the wrapped insulation will this cause problem with performance.I think mine just touches which would in fact block the hole in the mid q insert any thoughts before I laminate thanks..Sawz.

The pole vent on any driver should have at least .75" clearance from any obstructions. If the material is soft it is not as bad but could inhibit performance slightly.

When I first saw the original design, I thought that could be a problem. I would have done a nice window brace rather than a solid piece and then place the rockwool on the port & rear of the enclosure. It seems to create some what of a problem. No offense to Andrew or yourself of course. I am just really particular when it comes to some things.

Allright now I think this link will get you to the Kappas before and after the laminate Thanks Guys for your patience.
The finished front leaves about one half inch to the driver lip and that with the driver being recessed 5/8" gives a real nice look.
I cut all the laminate with a new ply blade installed backwards with a length of masking tape over every marked line for cutting ,no splinters ,no chips really worked well,I used weldwood contact cement and a hard rubber roller to push out any air, then a flush trimmer in a smaller router with a little extra houshold oil on the bearing roller, then a very little filing of the edge, that stuff is on forever,no doubt.

I will reinstall the drivers this morning and I will be about 99% complete but now I wait for the return of the DCX as it seems to have a few issues next up I will make a grille of some sort but I hate to drill through my finish to install fasteners ,any ideas would be appreciated,Thanks Sawz..

Did you flush mount the driver? This is suggested. Also make sure you give around 2.5cm from the woofer to the grill.

I prefer metal grills, but those usually have to be ordered. P-E has many grills or grill material to choose from.

Maybe it's because I viewed your pics on my BB but the enclosures look smaller than mine. Did you modify the box design?

No same size as the original I just pushed the driver up a little towards the top ,I just thought it looks better ,more uniform.
