CNN says: Angry White People, at Tea Parties.

One question.

I watched this on CNN this morning. The reporter start arguing with the people in the crowd. One exchange went this way:

CNN: Why are you protesting?
Protester: High Taxes and Govt. Spending.
CNN: But don't you want to get a refund from Obama and the Govt.?
Protester: Not if we have high National debts and more job losses.
CNN: But you should want the government's money?
Protester: I want the government to stop spending.

CNN: "Well, it looks like we just have a bunch of white, angry people that do not know what they are protesting." WTF:confused:

That is not a joke, she actually said this. It was funny to see her try and argue instead of report.
By any chance, was the CNN reporter a person of color?

Yeah, same people reading these threads and posting to let us know they don't like these threads. How about no clicky the linky.:p
He even sent me a red chicklet to show how he really felt.

His signature used to say something about, 'how he wouldn't participate in political threads'.....

A picture is worth how many words?

Picture is worth how many words? I didn't see any tea parties, protests, or public displays in my home city, NEWARK NJ. Why might that be? I'm curious as to what you think.
You want a tea party in Newark? Here ya go.

http://videos.nj.com/star-ledger/2009/04/a_tax_day_tea_party_in_newark.html

What's funny about this is that both Newark and Camden are major recipients of most of the tax dollars taken in from elsewhere, and they are still dumps.

...and my wife and I were both born in Newark.

I'll watch it later, blocked by firewall. I also hope it doesn't further prove my point about the Trenton one, cuz if so, why bother posting it. :)

I'd defend Newark, but why bother. People believe what they want to believe, including people who "were born" there...

Didn't you red chicklet me TWICE in another thread because you didn't like what I had to say? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle *removed for racist capability*? :)

It's still a cesspool. We don't go west of the tracks.

There are those of us trying hard to change that. Maybe we won't succeed, maybe we'll just die of old age trying, but anything worth having is worth fighting for.

I would really, really, like y'all to succeed but nature dictates that it's easier to destroy something down than to raise it up.

change must come from within...

Back on topic, I got to watch the video of the said female CNN reporter "interviewing" people in the crowd. Talk about confrontational and completely out of line.

If you or Mark are interested:
I have a very close friend that works for the Housing Authority there.
He could write a book with his many years working there.
The stories would curl your hair. That's not to mention the unbelievable waste of funds and corruption.

If you're interested I'll pm you.
I'd rather not do it publicly.

I agree, but that doesn't mean it's all bad or that it has to remain that way. It only means the people who have maintained the power and influence to make a difference have only used both to further their own agendas while watching the city turn to crap. We can thank Sharpe James for a lot of that turn.

And it doesn't mean I'll give up trying. I can't believe that every generation growing up wants to see their home get progressively worse. Or maybe I refuse to believe it. Like mark said, change from within, and we're trying, win or lose.

Absolutely, I agree that she has a total lack of professionalism and respect towards the public. I totally get "stupid b*tch" from her, just not "racist b*tch". :)

Is there something wrong with being against all forms of racism?
I'm sure you have being the subject of racism:rolleyes:?

Yeah, same people reading these threads and posting to let us know they don't like these threads. How about no clicky the linky.:p
Or you could put them on your ignore list:eek:!

It did and I'm still steadfast in that belief... although the temptation nearly kills me...:)

If it makes you feel any better, you were the first...;) BTW I've given you many thanks in the past, just so we'll be clear on this, yet you never made mention of that! Lastly since Midcows meltdown the other day maybe your timing IMO was a bit off. But hell, I could sit here all day and plays devils advocate but too little time for that and thats all I have to say.

Regards, Bill

The racist stuff is a bit overboard. I don't find "angry white people" to be a racist comment, but I think a lot of people take offense to it because if you characterized the same group of black people as a bunch of "angry black poeple" you'd have Jesse Jackson finding his way back out from under the rock to find a microphone and camera and Al Sharpton would be calling for boycotts.

The truth is (in my opinion of course) is that everyone is happy being equal until it benefits them being not to be at which point they're quite happy to be whatever minority classification allows them to "get theirs."

Politically speaking, that reporter from CNN is just ignorant. The issue I have with many liberals is not their view... it's their attitude that they are somehow "in the know" and everyone else is just "doesn't get it." I love when people bash FOX because it shows their own intolerance for others. There's a reason they've been #1 for so long. The fact is that many more people are probably in agreement with conservative values, but it just doen't have the cool factor or sound as wonderful as liberal ideology.

It reminds of a simple but well thought out quote/observation:

We all dream of a world of happiness, sunshine, and peace

The only problem is half of the people think it is a wonderful place to live in, the other half think it sounds like a wonderful place to pillage. -unknown

Too often, liberals don't give that 2nd part enough weight.

Not really sure of how the majority of your post relates with the Tea Party and CNN's comment.
Seems to be a case of 'Not seeing the forest, for the Trees'

While it 'may' be on target. (as you say) It's racist nonetheless.
Accuracy and racism aren't mutually exclusive.

While I agree all media is bias; FOX seems to be out numbered.

I must commend you for even acknowledging, "CNN is a news service that aims to Liberals"
Since when did CNN actually have a forest?

Fox news is more entertaining because they just rant.

CNN is boring.

Radio favors the conservatives FYI. I can listen to 4 or 5 conservative stations. and 1 liberal one and that's just NPR.

Just to address this idea that liberalism is more popular. Republicans are no longer conservative. They went liberal on us. Seriously, they went on a spending spree and let power get to their heads. They ran a liberal for the white house. The Reps need a real leader. Until that point they will lag behind. Why even cut taxes? Just leave em alone and fix the deficit. You don't cut your income when you are deficit spending. That's just silly.

The idea that Dems are soft on war is ill conceived. Bill dispatched the troops more than any other president in history. Obama won't be soft either. He's already planning on an increase of our presence in Afghanistan. Plus he kept Bush' secretary of defense. Furthermore the Iraq timetable was set by Bush first.
