Has anybody ordered anything or heard about REFURB-DEPOT. I am looking at this Samsung BD-P1500 refurb for $159.95 and it seams to be a good deal. Any comments?

No, I would say that is not even a good deal. Several weeks ago I bought one from Zeller (Canada) for 149.99, that is, US$120. It was brand new in a sealed box with full warranty because Zeller (owned by Bay) is an authorized dealer. I returned it before I even opened the box because I really wanted the P2550.

If you are in the US or Canada you should be able to find similar or better deals for a brand new BD-P1500.

Here's that exact same Samsung Bluray at Tiger for $169. You can trust Tiger, I bought my processor from them and...well I'm typing on the computer powered by it as of current and have been for several months. Them and Newegg are the two good online retailers I buy a lot from. I don't know that I'd believe you can get it for some $120 - PC Bluray drives are still like $100-120 and you're gonna pay extra for an external standalone unit like that. Definitely worth the extra money to buy from Tiger and don't let that refurb scare you off, we bought a Magellan GPS for a huge discount refurb from Tiger and it works great and is just like new. If I needed a Bluray player, I'd definitely be giving that some consideration (But I've got meh PS3 for that :D). But what am I saying, you were already interested in a refurb unit - go for it!

I didn't believe it either at the time and that's why I grabbed one right away even though it wasn't what I intended to own. In fact not long before that (Feb I think), all the other Zellers stores had them on sale for C$179.99 (approx. US$145) for a few weeks and then went back up to C$229.99 (approx. US$184). I had no idea why that particular Zellers store offered such a great deal. It did not seem to be a mistake because there were 8 on the shelves and they all had the same price on the stickers. The cashier told me they had more at the back.

Anyway, even if that store did make a mistake, the other ones that had them on sale for C$179.99 certainly did not; and some of the stores had tons of them. With a healthy inventory and the model has been discontinued, I am sure their prices are going to tumble pretty soon.
