Panels Have Arrived

They're beautiful. I just called PD to give him the good news.
They were packed superbly ... professionally even. ;)

A few months ago a friend of mine acquired a bunch of an acoustic product called Tectum and I wanted to try it out for sound panels. I took some of the material and shoved it into old tee shirts and placed it around the living room. Then I left it there for too long and the g/f started saying something about a couple of weeks ago but didn't push it because I was finishing up the kitchen. Now that PD's panels show up all pretty the g/f is willing to let me hang them anywhere just to make the stuffed tee shirts go away. :D

I'll get 'em hung and the place cleaned up for pic's.

EDIT: I was just digging around for a couple of picture hanger things and smelled something strange ... not bad, just strange. I had my nose up against one of the panels. I think they may use that pot poury stuff. It's kind of nice. :)

WAF has been met ... completely ... enthusiastically even. :)

This is what's going on with the surround.

If you look closely you can see a couple of the Tectum products in the green and red shirts. They're out of sight and if they do any good, fine. There's another stuffed into another corner.

I said to my g/f that I still need to paint them and her response was , "you do?"
That's how they get you to buy rings. ;)

BTW, I stripped and refinished the maple coffee table and made the lamp table.

I haven't listened to anything yet but I guarantee you that the acoustic qualities will make my system sound like one that costs 10X more. The old sound was complete garbage compared to this slice of sonic heaven.

Edit: I just listened to Clapton's I Shot the Sheriff which I heard this morning
and I gotta say ... ahhh, it's probably my imagination ...

TIGHTER BASS !!!

Oops, that slipped out. :D

Is that wall pink??

The panels made a big difference to me and bass was tighter. It was one of the most effective upgrades I have ever made. Now that I think about it...send them back...

I also think that Gramma pad would work better if it wasn't just leaning against the wall. I think you are supposed to put something (lets just say a sub) on it.

I saw the gramma thing coming a mile away. It's worse than you thought.

Yep, there's two.
That wall is a dark red or burgundy. Before it's all said and done it will be SW 7600. I forgot to mention that I put those felt fuzzy wuzzy things on the panels to keep the wood from contacting the wall.

My subs are sitting on this contraption:

If you want 'em back, all it takes is cash. The shipping is brutal this time of year. :D

Alex, I think this is the first time I've seen your setup. It looks pretty good. With the blinds closed, you can't even see the bars of the monkey cage.

Post #9 has the set up with the grills off. I was a normal person who didn't know about forums, cameras, acoustics and displays before I came around here. I feel like I'm catching on a little. :)

The speakers came from Speakerman39 and PD is just giving me stuff. :)
I'm just waiting for Gene to start sending me checks. :D

PD in post #43 is working with me on that. You didn't read the last few posts, did you?

I have panel-envy.
This is the only time ever in the history of audio that drywall experience has had some sort of pay off. These panels have me more excited than winning a card pool at work once for over a grand. I would never buy these because I would sooner spend the money on material and make some. This is soooo much easier.

Alex that is a great looking room ya got buddy.....
I bet you say that to all the boys ... :D

That is a very nice looking system, Alex. The panels look awesome. I don't know what I could give you that could compete. I will search the area for the perfect simian gift.

I have a humidifier that looks like yours but is the mirror image of it.

If I hadn't been pining away for panels or the material and time to make them I would have declined the gift. However these are so freakin' nice and I wanted some so freakin' bad that I just had to find a way to graciously accept these and he said I helped him so that almost kind of made it okay but I'm afraid my 'Accept Free Stuff Here' window is closed. I have to maintain some semblance of dignity here. :)
