The Etymology of your nickname

lsiberian

I know we all go by nicknames. With the exception of Adam. But being the first person he has the right to be called by his name. ;)

Mine comes from my love for Tigers. Especially the Siberian Tigers.

I started out as ltiger and moved on the lsiberian as ltiger became more common. The benefits of the l character in front of my name is the ambiguity of it in many character sets. In some fonts it is used to represent 2 different letters. The reasons for this characters advantage I won't discuss. We all did things we weren't proud of as teens.

But still I'm interested in how some of you came to be known by your nick.

I have gone by other names like Pollywolly, and even Dubya(during our last presidents term was funny to most folks), but lsiberian still reigns as my first pick.

My old nickname is incredibly original. It's "D", as in the first letter of my name.

Lately, some of my co-workers have been calling me "Diesel", probably because I'm a fairly big guy.

The wife and I just call each other "dude".

LOL I always thought of you as "paradigm shift" -- meant in a postive way .. a new way or approach to audio.

My nickname comes back for the old, old days of CB Handles. Mine was "Midnight Cowboy". A nickname I got from being young (a long time ago) single and living a wild life  in a swinging apartment complex. MidCow was a shortened form and I had to use MidCow2 from my second partypoker.com ID, partypoker.net was MidCow.

Later,

MidCow

P.S. - I also kind of looked like Doug McClure :D :D

P.S.S. Bose 901s might not have been good speakers but with a red shag carpet townhouse and a waterbed couch the girls just couldn't resist.

As many of you know, I seem to go through a lot of gear.:eek: Back in my car audio days, I was always collecting speakers. I was and still am fascinated with them. Over time, this fascination carried over into the home audio realm. One day a co-worker told me I was "sick". I asked him what he meant and he simply told me I had more speakers than anyone he knows. Later on, my co-worker referred to me as "Speakerman" and here we are. ;);) Okay, I am done now. :p:p

Cheers,

Phil

Derived from 25 years flying the WGASF (the world's greatest air superiority fighter) the F-15C Eagle--retired from USAF in 07. After you solo in the Eagle you recieve an "Eagle Driver" patch to wear on your flight suit at the bar on Friday evenings.

I would have responded to the thread if I knew what Etymology meant.
As it is I had to cut & paste it cause I can't spell it.

it's my license plate...

One of my co-workers came up with it for me. I drive an M3, and it's isn't exactly perfect (it's a 97), so it's mperfct. Or M Perfect. Or you could go with a theological/philosophical angle on the human condition to it. Whatever floats your boat. Or your monkey.

Neat-o, I know.

Anamorphic is a term that can be used for the cinematography technique of capturing a widescreen picture on standard 35 mm film. The 96 is the year I started in the commercial movie theatre industry.

There's at least one other one.
I was thinking of this one when I read the first post.

As has been said already, my "nickname" is booorriiinggg. It's no coincidence that I have so many posts in the boring thread. It's almost like it was made for me. :)

And there's another one linked in there but it's about a bazillion pages long.
If you read all that and take notes you will have everyone's secret identities.
