Epik Conquest 10Hz, 104dB, 2 meters, In-room

This may be the case in an actual movie theater, but are those 10hz signals present in DVD's or any other regular consumer format ? I'm failry certain that the DD used for DVD cuts off at 20hz for all channels. I'm not sure about DTS, but I would bet it's the same. On Dolby true and DTS HD for the new HD formats, I don't know.

Let me rephrase my original question to any out there. Are there any
CONSUMER playback mediums (CD,DVD-A or SACD, etc) that can actually
have a recorded 10hz signal ?
I wonder if those Pipe-Organ recordings go that low?

Seriously, I have no life.
According to Tom Nousaine, the Epik Conquest is capable of producing In-Room Bass down to 10Hz @ 104dB from 2 meters w/ less than 4% distortion.

How does this compare to DIY 18" subwoofers?
Nousaine wrote an article some time back describing HIS infinite baffle sub DIY project:D But, it uses a number of either 15" or 18" subs. It will do more, much more.:D
If you want, I can find a citation for you.:)

I am just wondering why Nousaine didn't push the sub closer to the 10% distortion point at each frequency.

I was wondering about that!

Also, don't most people use a 1-meter measuring distance?

And if most rooms are a lot smaller than 7,500 cubic feet, why did he use a room this large?

Usually subs are done at 2m, I suppose because of the longer wave lengths and it doesn't matter?
That is his home where he does these tests. I guess it is open in there. But, with those measurements, it really doesn't matter, I don't think. The level at 6ft will not change

Yeah, the Conquest is a real beast, and I very nearly got one. I was struggling with this decision over a year ago when I got the Ultra. The Ultra is much more refined IMO, but yeah the Conquest is a good sub. If it had been available in a nice wood veneer, I would have probably gotten one.

I hear ya , it caught my eye to and I almost changed my mind on my original choice . But the size along with lack of finish options turned me away to but im still a little tempted ;):D

Now how would my little cube compare to the Epik Conquest. Would there be a major difference?

Dimesions 15"wx15"hx17"d with heat sinks
Woofer/Passive (1) active 12" XLS, (1) 12" XLS passive
System design: Tuned passive radiator self powered Sub woofer 1000 watts rms
Frequency response 18hz-125hz (-3db)
maximum output 105 db@50hz

There are quite a few Organ recordings with 16hz fundamental notes in them as that is the low note of a 32ft long pipe....or you can find the recordings of the 3 pipe organs that have full length 64ft long pipes that produce 8hz notes. It is also a way to prove that you need stereo subs as the phase shifts are present in the recordings that shows how the wave moves around in the room. If you have your woofers in open view, you can watch the woofers pulse back and forth from channel to channel. Mono bass is not realistic in this case.

Ahhhh.....yeah. Quite a difference....it's either size or quantity, there's no substiute for displacement in my experience.

Not many of us have the luxury of running true stereo subs. In my experience, mono works very well with low frequency material (organ).
