budget setup

They aren't very good quality pics because i took them with my laptops webcam but you get the idea. And i know the wires are a big mess and im open to ideas on how to clean them up. I was thinking maybe a board or something behind the equipment with a few holes to run the wires but it will have to wait until i have some more free time. and i still need to get the speaker wires ran through the stands, but that should be a quick fix.

equipment:
Onkyo tx-sr505
the speaker company 6.5" mains and surrounds and 5.25" center
samsung 32" 720p
kenwood 10" diy sub, 3.5 cu.ft. tuned to 24.5hz powered by 240 watt dayton plate amp (hoping to replace with an 18" in the future)
custom speaker stands and tv stand

any suggestions/ comments would be appreciated.

the stands are 2 layers of .75" mdf top and bottom, a piece of threaded rod running through it with a hole just big enough for the rod to fit through the middle pieces, then a nut on each end and the second piece of mdf with a hole big enough to fit a socket on the nut. Then the piece of pvc goes on and it is all tightened down. a third layer of mdf would be best to hold the pvc solid but its working for now.

that description is probably really confusing, ill draw up a picture.

thanks, it sure puts the local theaters here at college to shame. Back at my home town they just put up a new 8 screen theater and it is probably the reason i really want an 18" sub

My town only has one theater, and it's pretty lackluster. Someone needs to tell them that louder sound does not necessarily equal better sound. I watch movies at home

Oh yeah, I have better bass at home with my Kappa 12.1 DIY sub

I just took a look at your diy sub and ive been thinking about building one. I wonder how one would compare with a 15" or an 18"?

LOL I Bet And know what you mean, I use to like to go to the movies because I liked the sound but now im spoiled and when I go to the movies it sounds terrible and cant wait to go home so I can listen to mine and watch a movie . Thats a great HT setup you did there ....enjoy !!!

I have that same Dayton plate amp in my KLH sub. Orginal amp died. thats 9 9/16 x 9 9/16 a perfect square! Does 170 watts @ 8 ohms...
