To further clarify the problem with the question.

It's like asking

What's better a Car or a Truck?

Each has their application, and use.

Budget also comes into consideration. If you are looking for a great sub to own.

Then I give two suggestions. DIY if you can pull it off. Or SVS.
I know there are other options, but I know SVS is a very good company and has a very high quality product.

For DIY just build a pair of Kappas. I doubt you could do any better for the price. There are sealed options using a JL Audio sub. Chris has stated this numerous times in numerous posts. He, Andrew and Dr. Mark are all very knowledgeable and helpful. So I suggest you check out anything said by TLS Guy, Aversfi, and Wmax. Those guys are experts in my mind. I've learned most of what I know about subs from their posts. I am very grateful to have them here. Along with many of our other great members.

You can do a search for posts by a forum member and you will glean a lot.

I can understand the question I've been in your place before. It's all so overwhelming at first, but give it some time and effort and you will understand it.

Many people have built the Kappa Perfect and can testify to it's legendary status on this site. Many members make it one of their ultimate audio goals to have 2 of the these in their systems.

perfect analogy IMO.

there are no absolutes. OP must add restrictions like:

i want to drive around a 1 ton load

or

i want to carry two people and drive 250kph

Depends on the driver and goals.
the use if for watching movies and playing music

Say i wanted a full 7 channel surround system and i built 1 or 2 DIY 12vq kappa sub with 7 maidsound Ression buster speakers kits. my choices for the 7 speakers the sealed .25ft3 or the ported .44ft3

.25 ft3 sealed box
or
.44 ft3 ported on the frount

wich would be a better system. or would a combination of the 2 choices be ideal

Honestly if I were doing rb kits all the way around. I would use the ..4 ft for the front sounds stage and the sealed for my surrrounds. Because smaller size is a requirement for my surrounds. Of course I already have Kef eggs which are amazingly good for surrounds and small.

But for a Home Theater setup I recommend you do the ported and 2 kappas. This will give you a slick system.

It's hard to beat that for the buck.

just to be clear frount stage is frount three(LR and Center) and the rears and side speakers would be sealed
