No that's an intelligent question. You will need an external amp to drive any subwoofer period. Most commerical amps use plate amps, but for the kappa project I suggest a Behringer EP2500 For this you will need to convert your sub pre-out signal from RCA to XLR, but there are numerous ways to do this.

1 Behringer ep2500 can drive 2 Kappas fairly easily.

For your crossover I suggest a DCX 2496 from Behringer as well. There are numerous ways to set this up. If you have an external amp you can actually use the DCX for you whole system, but you can also use it just for the subs.

Though the box is designed for a specific driver. all the Infinity Perfect 12.1s have a very similar design and response. So you could probably use any of them effectively. I have gleaned all this from reading through the thread on the project. Which I recommend. If you are willing to learn how to build the boxes then you could set yourself up for DIY speakers in the future and teach yourself a trade. It's easy to do with the right tools, patience, and caution.

Remember stupid people assume they have the answers. Smart people ask for help. That's why they know more. Engineers ask questions a lot.

i would be lost without you answering all these questions, with the behringer ep2500 does that connect to the main receiver ?

thanks again!

I suggest you connect it with a crossover, but you probably could connect it with the receiver. You will need a cleanbox that converts from RCA to XLR.

It may take a little work, but this way has many benefits.

Longer upgrade time which spreads out the excitement. More things to buy. Means you get to open more packages.:D

Learning curve. After a DIY project you will be much more knowledgeable of how stuff works.

Cheaper prices. :D

Your Denon has a subwoofer preout. If you are planning on building 2 subs, you can use a y-cable to send a signal from the subwoofer preout to each channel of the Behringer amp. As said before, the ART Cleanbox is the best device to boost the signal and convert from RCA to XLR.

You have a bunch of sub options here, but a kappa perfect 12 build is a good rewarding project.

Why the need to apologize. We wouldn't be here if we didn't want to help. Just be thankful not apologetic. Again smart people ask. Stupid people hurt themselves.

http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/cat/index.cgi/shopfront/view_product_details?category_id=&product_id=575572
and obviously the 2 drivers but would someone be helpful enough to point me to a place where i can order the drivers and obviously they would need to deliver internationally as i live in australia but other than that are the two items in the links what i need (along with the drivers) and do the prices seem roughly right ? also with warranty on these products what do i do if something goes wrong with them? just cop it and replace it
thanks for all the help once again

Whoa!

I paid $256.00 and $279.99 for my EP2500 and DCX2496 respectively from www.zzounds.com. Use their price match link with sellers from Amazon. Good deals to be had there (zzounds) with excellent customer service!

It's been a while since I've been down under, but has the currency gotten that bad?

I would think you could find a bit better price. I suggest you look around a bit more to see if you can find a better deal.

Does seem high, but Australia has a bit higher prices on some stuff. I think shipping to Australia may be pretty high too.
