I want , i want, i want my full resolution ;)
Did you not see that picture of Rosie?!? Some things are better left at low res. :D

On that note, my mental third eyelid couldn't snap shut fast enough to block that image out, and now it haunts me. Pork Chop - I shall have my revenge.

As for the debate let it rage because in the end, it won't alter/sway my decision, as to which one is better.
That decision is made by the men with the test gear. They are like the Gods of video. I trust in their priests Annunaki, Bandphan and BMXTRIX (installers) and Jostenmeat (generally smart person with OCD) to pass the holy word down to us mere mortals who seek viewing bliss.

I did actually see a nice LCD. A 52" Sony for $3,500. I paid $1,750 for a 50" Panny. Yeah size matters, but not that much. :D

I wonder which had a better picture.

Dunno about that;)? Some people would pay a kings ransom for an extra 2":D. I'm not that naive to make a final decision in such a pigheaded fashion, without some consideration of what the others are saying:cool:. Having viewed both types of displays in a recent foray, its apparent to me that this decision is not as easy as some make it out to be.

Regards, Bill

Ouch, that stung.

The smartest guy I'm aware of on the other side of the fence is MDS. A search of his posts will tell his story.

Good luck,
Alex

Well, with stores offering such generous return policies, you could always buy an LCD and Plasma and return the one you didn't like. That way, you can be sure whether or not, all the worries were addressed.

The percentage increase from 50" to 52" display with 16:9 aspect is 8.17%.
That, although quite surprising, has nothing to do with Billy's post. Like I always say, four inches is four inches, but some girls like it that thick. :D

I requested peoples' opinions on Samsung LCD 995 versus the Pioneer Kuro last year and pulled the trigger on the Kuro Elite 151 earlier this year. The primary factor was the the degree of viewing angles in the room. I'm thrilled with the decision and the picture quality. It is amazing. No motion blur, easy to setup and manage and looks fantastic mounted to the wall. First of all, thanks to everyone that recommended the Pioneer - virtually everyone that responded. Secondly, I would highly recommend the Kuro.

On the news last night it was reported that Pioneer will be out of the TV game within the year. Concentrating more on car audio. That seems ridiculous to me, but then again a lot of car audio stuff seems ridiculous to me.

I dont think people could justify the price premium for better blacks.

Im a plasma man myself, in terms of picture quality they havent changed much in the past 5 years, just gotten cheaper and better resolution which really only makes a difference in 50"+. I bought a Hitachi 42" 6 years ago and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.

The pq levels have risen greatly in the laat 5 years, and while some cant justify the elite price tag, if you want the best pq, it is the display to have.

PQ has gotten slightly better, pretty much only black levels. I also have a Panasonic TH-50PZ700U and my family think they are both just as sharp and picture quality is pretty close. Although the Hitachi uses a 1024 x 1024 resolution so its pretty sharp.

And well LCD's, when I was looking for a TV 6 years ago they were just new, they have improved at a nice pace over the past 6 years, but they still cant stand up against Plasma.
