Seth - Immediately pick up the extended everything for that firearm....especially the slide takedown. There's a great Glock book you may want to pick up, The Gun Digest Book of the Glock - Sweeney(ISBN 0-87349-558-6). It's walked me through upgrades and covered stuff I did and din't know. YMMV.

Nice piece.

Mark
I had to take the extended magazine release out of my Glock 26 since the magazine kept getting partially ejected while I was sitting or driving around, but the extended slide lock is a good idea. The extended slide stop lever isn't really needed, since Glock reccomends not using it to drop the slide, as it may wear out, and it wasn't designed for that, besides using that is a fine motor skill, and the pros would teach you to drop the slide by grabbing the slide and pulling it back.

OK, I'm late to jump on this thread but here goes. Glock 19 with taclight and SS guide rod and spring. Nothing fancy, but I have had my eye on a Sig P220 Equinox, but now that I see Ryan's Platinum.....Hmmmm?

Went to another gun show today and nothing really caught my eye and with the prices things are going for I walked out empty handed. I swear everything has gone up 10-15% since that last show I went to in November.

I was really looking at the new Springfield XDM models but didn't realize they haven't released a .45 version yet, just the 9mm and .40.

Shootin' Fun

I don't own anything fancy, just a .22 Winchester rifle passed down from my grandfather to my father to me, but some of my friends are avid shooters. Here's a couple pictures from my last shoot.

A gallon jug of water vs. the shotgun:

Closeup of a propane tank that's been out at the local shooting spot for quite some time:

Sadly, the local shooting spot is in pretty bad shape. We always haul away more then we come in with, but I'm afraid it might eventually get closed due to people trashing the place.

I picked up a few hundred rounds of Wolf .223 yesterday. I will try it out and see if i like it. it was only $6.79 per 20 rounds. Does anyone shoot wolf in their AR-15? If so what do you think of it?

While I'm an Expert shot with a rifle since high school, I have shot a pistol exactly 3 times in my life. Below is the third time which was this weekend at the local range. You can see 8 distinct groupings (with 3 errant shots which I felt go awry on me). This was at 25 feet and I alternated between a 9mm and a 9-shot 22 revolver. The last time I shot a pistol was over 18 years ago, lol. I only own one gun which I haven't shot yet on account I couldn't find any ammo before Saturday - a 38 special.

So is this any good?

Depends on if you hit what you were aiming at. :D Sure looks good to me, Clint. 25 feet isn't very far, but it's a great distance (IMO) for gauging ability in a real-world encounter for most of us. I wouldn't expect to fire upon someone unless they were much closer than that, unless they were posing an imminent danger to someone else.

Wait...sorry. That's probably bordering on politics. I gotta go find a picture of a gun to post in here. :)

Not bad for your third time. That looks like a 35 meter target...if so I can place 50 rounds all in the second smallest circle.

Just saying.:p

Haha... Yeah, I was "maximizing" the use of that single target and just going around shooting at the different numbers. I forgot to mention that the 22 was missing its rear sight.

Rear sight is over-rated.;) I love shooting a .22, best pistol to learn on. Almost picked up a Ruger .22 pistol for my wife and I yesterday but even those were overpriced.

Next time I go I'll do the longer range and bring my 38. I kinda felt I was super close to the target. All my rifle stuff was done at 50 feet with those little 2-inch targets and anything off by more than ~1/8 inch lost you points.

The theme of that 9mm was apparently "up and to the left".

I don't know a lot about firearm weapons but we're using those at work:

Walther P99 w/ 3 full chargers

We book our own practices during the year and once a year we have qualifications. Just to make sure we know more than wearing them at the waist :p

This is as big a debate as whether or not Monster cables are any good. If you asked 100 people, 50 will tell you it's junk and stay away from it and 50 will say it's fine. Of each 50 in each group, maybe only 10 have any practical knowledge as to why they've decided on their opinion.

Shoot it. If it works okay in your rifle, than you're good to go. If you experience a lot if issues with it, then your rifle may not "like it." The range time will determine your answer.

Hey Clint. I have a target that may help you. I used to shoot competively in college and we used to use targets like this to assist in training. PM me your email. I can't shrink it down enough to get below 100kb to post here.

I have a Ruger 22/45 bull barrel in stainless and love it. Awesome weight and feel to it. The current Mark III model appears to be a little different from mine, but it seems to be mostly the same.

I have this gun in the P22 (.22cal) with the laser sight. It shoots very well and is easily concealed. I usually just drop it in my hip pocket.

I carry my Taurus Millennium 9mm mostly in a shoestring holster.

Peace,

This is one of the most accurate .22 autos that i have ever shot. I bought my Step dad one of these for Christmas one year. Very nice!!

Looks good to me, the tight grouping shows that you have a pretty steady hand. Most people would be tickled to be able to shoot like that, after shooting once or twice a year for some time. I wish i had some of my old targets to post up. I have a 300 winmag that has some trigger work done to it. I had a few targets shot at 100 yds with 3 shot groups on them that you could cover up with a quarter. All shot from a bench rest of course.

Anyway, nice shooting!!

Peace,
Tommy

Has anyone had any experience with the Stag Arms AR's? Any info is appreciated.

I had a Stag arms lower and it was great, it was mated to a CMMG upper, but that rifle was stolen in home breakin a couple years ago, and it's been replaced with a RRA Entry Tactical. I wouldn't hesitate to own a full Stag Arms rifle, but I'm not left handed either... Their stuff is good, it's supposedly the same manufacturer that makes stuff for another large company, but they won't say who.
