SVS PB 12 NSD vs SB 12 Plus

Im trying to decide between these two subs since they fit into my budget perfectly but cant decide between which one . I listen to a lot of music so accurate and tight base would be nice and also watch a lot of movies so I'd like to feel it to. So yes I want the best of both worlds and I have beer breath and champagne taste lol . Seriously im running a Veledyne dps 10 now but I think its time to upgrade and would it be a noticable difference ? Also I think the SB 12 Has free shipping now so the NSD and the plus are probably pretty close in price after shipping. Thanks in advance and hurry because my buy it now finger is twitching for some more base : )

if you can fit the PB12NSD, i'd go for that over the SB12Plus.

after playing around with a dozen subs - i still don't know what "tight" is ... i classify that term in the same section as "chocolatey" and "danceable"

LOL ya im not sure what tight base is either but I guess maybe something that sounds clean and not muddy like my DPS 10 Does sometimes Im also considering a used but "as is" like new Paradigm servo 15 that even comes with A X-30 crossover it has the original box and packaging for probably around 800 but its more than I want to spend and im a little nervous about buying used . If you dont mind me asking what do you like more about the PB12nsd over the SBP12plus ? I think the SB12PLUS has a 100 more watt amp but dont really know if thats a big difference or not when you weigh everything out between the two .

I'd go with the PB if I were you and had the space and I've never heard either of them

I havent heard either of them either but I respect everyones knowledge and oppinions here because theyve never let me down yet and have been right on the mark everytime.

OK the SVS PB12 NSD IS WINNING : ) Just for kicks anyone heard of the Axiom EP350 v3 Subwoofer ? its about a 100 dollars more but heard some good things to about them . I promice thats my last option for different subs

Let's put your $$ to maximum potential.

How about option 3?

You can use a pre-fabricated/pre-finished cabinet($190) (textured black paint), sealed, 3 cubic foot, from www.partsexpress.com and install an O Audio 500 Watt BASH amplifier ($230) and an Eclipse SW8200 driver ($230) in the cabinet.

It's not really DIY - unless you consider simply cutting the hole for the driver and amp as 'DIY'. If you actually wanted to go DIY, I can specify other options for this price range that will produce even more SPL and still have the same SQ.

What it is, is a substantially superior end product as compared to the SVS subs of the same total cost you are considering. The driver chosen is a TC Sounds engineered driver using their phenomenal LMT motor. It has incredible linear stroke of over 30mm. as verified by 3rd party Klippel Analysis. Compared to the PB12-NSD, you will get a little bit higher SPL (and much higher SPL (50-60% more) if you use a larger amplifier; the 500W amp is not even close to using this driver's potential) and higher quality bass, unless you are considering the much higher priced PB12 Plus, in which case, I can recommend higher cost self-assembly options with higher performance and output for about the same price. The O Audio amp specified is critical due it's built in adjustable filters to compensate for the response curve in the sealed cabinet(all sealed subwoofers use compensation filters, btw). The O Audio amp is also one of the best build quality plate amps for DIY use and it's even built in North America. The driver is well suited do a 1000 watt amplifier; but I'm specifying this 500W one to stay within budget of the SVS subs you listed.

Wow thanks Chris thats definitely something to consider, but not sure if I would trust myself trying to attempt building my own sub although I did take 4 years of carpentry in high school but that was many years ago . I'd probably need to pick up a jig saw and a few other tools. It does sound pretty basic user friendly type of build but knowing me I would end up making it difficult. It is a very cost and performance effective project though . Thanks so much to take the time to present it to me . But like I said im not sure if I want to pull out the soldering iron and power tools on this one

You don't have to do anything except buy a $20 jig saw and cut the holes. You don't even have to solder anything!

If you don't trust yourself to cut a hole - any car audio install shop should cut the holes and install the drivers/amp for less than $50.

I just like to see people put their money to the most effective use.

Do it. After looking at about a dozen options over the course of a few weeks, this was my choice. I haven't received it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I know I made the right choice. 13 Ultra would have been overkill for me. Hell, even the 12 plus is overkill...

I was willing to wait for the black, but the other finishes are very nice as well. All of them are super glossy. Like a nice piece of furniture. Christ, I have to get off this forum, I cant wait anymore. It's like watching the food network when your really hungry.

HA HA or like I feel like ...a kid in a candy store : ) ya everything I have is black to so the piano black would fit wright in but my Veledyne is piano black and so im thinking something different like the rosewood and its dark enough to were it would still blend nice I think and its got the black top . But ya that piano gloss black is drop dead gorgeous
