Well, here is my first go at pictures of my HT. Forgive my photography skills :D. All comments and criticisms are welcome!

I did all of the woodwork (trim included), and everything else for that matter, except for the drywall. Then I did most of it again after the stupid plumbers neglected to solder a copper water line joint and it ruined most of the drywall in the in the back half of the room (thankfully all I had up was the screen and the front three speakers and the leak was over where the equipment currently is). There was also a nasty flood that had 3" of water in most of the basement, but thankfully it came from a window on the other side of the basement and the thick carpet stopped it up before it got to the sub or any of the equipment.

Hopefully, in not too long I will be moving on and moving out and it will be time for HT round 2 :D!

I don't know how that sleepy puppy got in there

Nice setup. The Rotel looks like quite a beast. The dog on the other hand doesn't look quite so much like a beast, more of a cuddly.

Yeah she is really the only acoustic treatment I have :D. Unfortunately, when she is not cuddling she tends to run around like a crazed beast, so she usually isn't allowed down there :).

Wow - I never noticed before how dusty the bottom edge of my projector box was! I wonder if I ever cleaned it off after I built it and mounted it up there a couple of years ago

Thank you for the pics.

May I recommend the $80 URC RF-20/blaster remote combo? Run emitters underneath each player (I use this remote with BD30 and HDA35). For Rotel, perhaps along the back wall, up the heat sink, along top to IR sensor.

get rid of the other three remotes, and no more pointing necessary either. oh yeah, backlight too.

That is a great suggestion. Is it really that inexpensive? (-yes, I answer my own question with a quick look on Amazon ) I never did it because I was only familiar with the hard-wired Niles solution (over $200 and you still have to use your old remotes or buy a Harmony) and the Harmony stuff that requires a separate emitter for an extra $100 on top of the Harmony cost. I have always wanted a remote with RF so I could have all of my gear facing the same way (and only have one remote) but I guess my ignorance prevented me from doing it .

Now I need one! Bah - I need to sign up for that BillMeLater thing or something - I am maxed out for this month !

Screen shots please! ;)
I will work on that :)

The camera I am using (my fiancee's Canon SD850IS) must have some dust on the CCD or something. I don't know if that is something that can be fixed or not but I actually ad to photoshop a big blob out of the wall in the picture of the seats. I will have to borrow a friends camera to do screenshots (or anything for that matter) or I just won't be satisfied.

I shouldn't have sold my Digital Rebel, even though I didn't really know how to use it :(

Heh. I took another look at your remotes. I am familiar with two of them, as you know.

Yes, worth every penny, do it. In fact, after you get it, you will know exactly what I am thinking right now.

Just wait 'till next month. The price has been at $80 +/- $3 for about a year now, at the least, and I don't think it will change, except in the case of dropping further.

That's not even all of them!! The monstrosity that is the Rotel remote is under the table with the Xbox on it. Since I can't adjust volume sitting down, I never use that one...

That is good. You never know about those Amazon prices. I...must...have...it...now! (now meaning after February 18 - the next credit card statement post date :D)

strube, very very nice, but on closer inspection, it appears that the heat from the projector is actually heating enough to fade the box that the projector sits in. I would highly recommend installing a small fan in there to blow out the warm air and keeping the lifespan of that projector longer Overall i am very jealous (especially of that Rotel) very nice system. Oh yeah and it appears your dog gets top seating choice. :D

Thanks for the concern. I am pretty sure what you are seeing is dust, either that or a poor finish (this was the most crucial piece I made because I couldn't get the system going without it, so I might have been careless on the finishing. I was in a pretty big hurry to get it up and running :)). I was concerned about temperatures myself when I first set it up, but I checked the temperature at various locations in the box after watching The Godfather Part II, and there weren't any temps above 78F anywhere in the box - the projector exhausts out the front and intakes air from the back at the bottom, through a filter. That is why the shelf is much shallower than the rest of the box. That said, I am not sure heat alone could fade the finish: I used satin deck polyurethane because that is what I had, and that stuff can take some extreme temperatures and UV without breaking down.
