Nice! So call me stupid but you can buy pre-cut faceplates for certain components in the rack?
Nah, that's not a stupid question. Most faceplates have already been made, so you just order the plate by model number of your unit. If you have an oddball item they send you a sheet to fill out with the dimensions and they cut it for you. Then you buy a shelf that the actual unit sits on.

The rack is a standard size, so you can really order faceplates from anywhere or just buy blanks and cut them yourself if you have the tools. I used to do that more often, but now I just grab the Middle Atlantic ones to make sure the finish matches and everything, plus my local distributor is really cool about taking them back, swapping stuff out, getting stuff to me fast, etc.

Here is another home rack I'm working on for a friend, its getting further along:

Both our racks need some blanks also, but, once everything is put in I think they end up looking very clean and it makes wire management really easy.

Thanks! These will look cleaner once I get all the faceplates and finish putting everything in.

I've run so many cables in my time I have it down to a science, even down to making it easy to swap equipment out, trace wires, etc. Velcro straps where it fits, loose strung wiretires used as guides. Then in every rack I put a "rack toolkit" which has extra ties, a cutter, the tamper proof screw driver and the mini-wrenches for the shelfs, extra screws, etc. This isn't because I'm a neat freak, but rather because of the countless times I lost those damn tools haha. I'll take a picture of the wiring so far, I left my camera at a friends.

Hey next month I'm going to setup a 12-ft lighting truss for an event, you have any idea how long those take to setup? I figured you might know from all the shows you do....

I am a soundman not a light guy. I know nothing about lights except people don't go home humming their favorite tune that the lights played. In fact if it don't make sound I don't know about it. As long as you have the lights already run it shouldn't take you long...

Yeah The Prodigy is sweet. I have some sick dubstep remixes I play fairly often. Must have been a fun tour!

Green with envy here...

Sensi - just found this thread from your mention of the new Monoprice HDMI in the boring thread... all I can say is I'm jealous.... GREAT stuff man! It must be nice to be young, making big bucks with no ex-wife or kids.... brings back fond memories... I wouldn't trade my son for all the money in the world but I'll trade you my ex for that rack. :D :D :D

This is a very enjoyable thread due to the great pic's, scenery, gear etc. :)

The above pic with the hot girl smoking is making me a little wet. :D
Haha, cheers man. I will try to keep it entertaining! Still have a fair amount of things to do around the loft, plus I always have other stuff going on. I work kinda slow because I work so much though, but, its kinda nice to piece things together and do one thing at a time. I was looking forward to that cable like all week haha.

I setup my Dynaudio 70s to a Denon 3808, but I need to get some kind of a stand. That's my next project.

Ah thanks! Yeah the racks are fun, I for sure don't need one in this apartment but I just like building them and getting the faceplates and stuff... they are just fun to tinker with. Haha, the girlfriend and I broke up, so now I gotta go back to the dating thing. I forgot how. The good news is there isn't anyone yelling at me when I decide to play Playstation until the sun comes up haha.:D
