I'm just surprised that they only employ about 10k people, given their popularity.

We can make fun all we want of their products... but it's still people losing jobs during a time when new jobs are incredibly scarce. :(

Agreed...as much as I can't stand Bose, I really hate seeing Americans losing more jobs. Their speakers are awful, but being unemployed is even worse.

If you want to keep Bose employees working, you need to buy more Bose speakers. If you don't want to buy them, and don't want other people buying them, then that is not compatible with Bose employees keeping their jobs.

It is kind of like wanting to eat a bunch of brownies every day and not get fat. Those two things simply do not go together very well.

I just gave my uncle an Onkyo receiver that I hooked up to his bose cubes. He loves them, but he has never heard mine, much less a real system. He has had them a long time but I know he gave over a grand for them when he bought them. I have two 301s myself that I will be replacing when I get the funds. The only Bose product that I have that I absolutely love is the Bose Aviation X headset. It is the most phenomenal headset I have ever put on in the cockpit, but I haven't tried them all.........

Yeah but if I work out then I won't get fat!

Bring on the brownies! While I pump the iron.

That depends on how many brownies we are talking about. It is humanly possible to eat so many brownies that it is not humanly possible to work it all off.

The first question that came to my fertile mind is - If CC closing hurt Bose what's it going to do to Monster cables? :D

Monster Cable should be fine. They put out a product that costs next to nothing to make, and charge an arm and a leg for it. They probably are swimming in money, unless they have unwisely invested their profits.

Youd think the same with Bose...

The fact is, people arent spending as much money as they used to. More and more people are relising that for the money, a Sony HTIB is very similar sounding to a Bose, and costs many times less. Even the rich people that just pay for the name arent as rich as they used to be, and are turning to other brands.

If I were Bose, Id do some restructuring by making the lifestyle line alot cheaper to compete with sony, rca, panasonic, durabrand, etc... I bet the Bose would sell like hotcakes if the prices werent far off from competitors. They also need to update the current line of stereo separates and introduce a new flagship (or update the 901). I mean, they have been selling the same old BS for years and not a thing has changed except for the times and the competition.

Like Ive said before, Bose needs a modern 901. They need something new that will make people stop for a second and go "hey, thats different and kinda cool".

They should also stop trying to make everything so damn small on their higher end stuff. I swear the Lifestyle 38 system sounded better than the 48, even though the 38 is a grand cheaper (the cubes are smaller on the 48). IMO, there comes a point where it gets so small that the size vs. performance ratio is not worth it. The smaller cubes should be marketed for the masses and the rest of the lineup needs an update. Just my opinion.
