Emotiva customer service

At the Audioholics event last October, I bid on, and won the XPA-2.
I never win anything, so that was great news!
The downside was, it arrived damaged. Looks like the carrier dropped it on it's front corner.
I spoke with Lonnie, and he advised to send it back, and he would put in a claim with the carrier.
It took a while for the carrier to process the claim.

I called Emotive and spoke with Cathy Laufman, she informed me that the carrier dismissed the claim.
That really sucked...I mean, that was most unfortunate; Emotive was doing a nice thing by donating the amp. The monies from the AH auction went to charity.

So, even though the carrier didn't pay for the damaged amp.
Cathy Laufman emailed me the tracking number within a few hours of our conversation, and sent me a new XPA-2, that arrived within two days of me contacting her.
That, is customer service. Thanks Lonnie, Thanks Cathy!

Glad to hear they took care of it for you. How do you like the amp?

Who was the carrier and how are they able to dismiss a claim?
Was there a F-U disclaimer in fine print?
Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

I'd go 10 to 1 that it was UPS. They're very good at smashing amps. And subwoofers. And anything else they are entrusted to transport.

Thanks ADK.
I like the amp a lot. I have them hooked up temporarily to Cambridge SoundWorks Newton Series M80 Bookshelves in the living room.

I'd like to try it hooked to my Digm S-8's. It's just a matter of moving either the 100lb speakers, or the almost 100lb amp.

I didn't really need it. (don't tell my wife that):D
It was just such a great deal at the AH auction.

I'm very glad that it all worked out well for you, Rick! That was quite a sweet prize, and (again) I'm really happy that you won.

Thanks Adam, considering my track record of not really winning much.
Truth be told; my wife was the one that filled out the auction form.

The A-Holics crew really put on a great event.

UPS is the carrier I've had the most trouble with.

I worked for UPS for a while during college. The winter shipping season to stock stores starts in August.
They started us offloading trailers, to a set of rollers that led to a sorting table. They expect you to move very fast, and non-stop.(a box per second)Some trailers were missing the rollers that extended all the way into the trailer. In that case we would have to throw the boxes to each other.

The XPA-2 is very front heavy, so I think when it's lifted too fast, it starts to tip, and flips out of your grip easily.

Good win, Rick, and well deserved! And it's nice to know that Customer Service is alive and well at Emotiva.

I would also suspect UPS as the murd...er, carrier. They are the ones that blotto'ed my Aerials.

Well, it wasn't UPS 'this time'
I did buy a pair of The Speaker Company towers last week, to check out.
UPS delivered them with an iron core inductor broken loose from the x-over, and rolling around in the cabinet.:(

I think any delivery service is pretty much the same as the next. Think of the gorilla in the Samsonite ads. What gets me is their ability to 'dismiss' a claim and leave the costumer with a broken piece of equipment.

Edit: The basteria! :D

Once again, congrats on the win and I'm glad it's all good now. :)

I had the same thing happen with a pair of RBH TK-5 bookshelf speakers last year. They had to be thrown to cause that much damage.

I guess "FRAGILE" really means "THROW ME".

I'm glad you are getting to enjoy your amp and you got sorted. Inductors will always come loose of not strapped to the board like this.

I built these for a member last week. I shipped them UPS, and those inductors had better not come off. If they do, I will just about consider it vandalism!

Mark, it's funny you mention that.
They were hot glue and strapped.
The big difference, yours are quality air core inductors.
The one that broke loose on me, was a heavy iron core.
I think the word fragile is mistaken for something in Italian.:D

"Fragee-lay. It must be Italian."

"I think it says fragile honey."

A Christmas Story RULES!!! :D
