Please help me to make a decision, I have budget under $1000 for a sub and looking for something that makes me feel floor shaking! consider:
HSU VTF-2 MK3
SVS SB12-Plus
Axiom EP350
Paradigm DSP-3200

I use 80% for movie and have a open room about 4m X 7m X3.5m (2 sides of the room fully open to dining room and living room,
I decide to go for Denon and use Axiom for front and surround.
I prefer sub that support outlet power of both 110V and 220V and I know that is available with HSU VTF-2 MK3, dont know if other sub also support 220V power input.
unfortunately HSU VTF-2 MK3 is made in China, only their ULS are built in States. I prefer my set to be built in America, any ideas where Paradigm and SVS build their products??

Many many thanks

The SB12-Plus is assembled in Ohio. The woofer is made in Ohio, the amp in Canada, and I don't know where the cabinets are from. I was thinking that the wood veneer cabinets were imported, but I might be remembering a different model/company.

The SB12-Plus is going to have a very difficult time shaking a room that large. The SB12-Plus was built to be small, not a good performance-to-price sub. I suggest contacting SVS customer service to ask for their recommendations. I also suggest the same approach with the other companies. I would tend to think that the new PC12-Plus would be a better fit for you than the SB12-Plus, if you like the looks of the cylinder.

Adam is right on with his reccomendation---the SB12 will not be an adaquate sub for such a large room. SVS has one of the new PC12+ subs and one of the older (with the 12.3 driver, not the new 12.4) 20-39 PC+ subs on their b-stock page...essentially the same sub with different drivers...

The 20-39+ is $749 and the PC12 is $899....both good deals...while the 20-39 is porbably the best buy and comes in well under your $1000 budget...

Thank you all for your advices, I am thinking of budget for PB12-Plus, the new version of Plus family. check out at http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-newpb12plus.cfm
but ´there is no review on this yet. I think I can go down to border to pick it up, just 35min drive,
SVS have option to allow you take outlet input of 220V or 110, need to tell them when you order.
I hope warranty will be valid when i bring to Canada.
PB12-Plus is 525W, I hope I can still use it in smaller living room, any idea if Denon 3808ci works well with this?

thanks

The Denon will work just fine with any of the powered subs that you've mentioned.

Why not consider one of the ported SVS subs? You can get a pair of PB-10 NSD subs for under $1000 shipped, and they will give you a small discount for ordering more than one.

I see most are chipping in for the SVS, so I will just throw in something else to consider. About the international power requirements, HSU's VTF-1 also has 120/220 capabilites. All you need is to flip a switch and change the fuse (it has an external access point for easy switching). I know because I went that route (my work has me relocating every four years, more or less, and I never know where to, so I had to have the power option). It also sounds great with my Axiom fronts & surrounds! Your room is bigger than mine, from what I can see, so maybe a bigger model would be necessary. Out of curiousity, which model speakers do you have??

thanks guys,
I think every time I look at my choice, I want something for long term, something more expensive. the sub is last thing i am worry about. and hope i make p my mind soon.
I may have to wait for couple months and get PB13-Ultra, it looks beautiful and fit perfectly with my funiture. but really expensive!
Do you think this sub is not to lound for 5m X 7m room in case i have to move to smaller room?
Chopin_Guy, how PB13-Ultra works with Denon 3808ci? do you need extra Amp? I dont plan to buy extra Amp, so hope it work out with denon.
do you really like PB13-Ultra?
i have Front Axiom VP100 v2 and Surround will be M3 v2. set up 5.1 for now.
Do you think it is good to have QS4 v2 for satellite rather than bookself?

Thank you for advices

Regarding buying an extra amp, the powered subs that you've mentioned all have their own internal amps. Your receiver isn't using any power to drive them - it just sends the audio information over the subwoofer pre-amp output (the RCA connector). So, you're set. As mentioned, the Denon 3808ci will work just fine with all of them.

Audiokiwi,

The PB13 will work with any AVR you want it to---thats the simplicity of powered subwoofers....all you have to do is give them a signal. But I can tell you, seeing as I have that combination myself(3808ci and Pb13), that is works just fine and sounds fantastic. As for the subwoofer itself, it is a beast and can do anything you ask of it....

If its any help for you...I am selling mine right now....take a look in the classified section...

Cannot afford now, the sub would be the last i purchase. first would be center and front, then AV, then sub and satellite?

it means I need to wait for next 10 months, otherwise my wife will K-
