news flash. i have noticed prices are rising fast. newegg and walmart upped prices a lot in just days. i'm thinking its a feb 17th thing.

I do on a tv that doesn't get much use... but some people just don't care about tv that much, or just can't afford cable or satellite.

I thought the same thing until I went to my in-laws. Then I was reminded that the people who subscribe to direct tv have to pay extra for their local tv channels.

I'm pretty sure I have read that 20% of Americans are still using antennas for T.V. There is a rebate from the government for a box to convert from digital for analog T.V.'s as well. I can't see a big rush to buy digital televisions if you can't even afford satellite or cable though.

Found this new Toshiba 52 inch at Amazon for $1500, with the new SRT technology. This price seems to be the cheapest I have seen for this kind of set.

If anyone knows anything wrong with this TV, barring not being 120Hz, please respond. I am in the market for a 52.

I wouldn't let the 120hz interfere with your buying this tv. 120hz really doesn't matter it is just another marketing ploy to get more cash out of unsuspecting buyers..

That is my opinion of 120hz. My brother-in-law was so excited about his new 120hz TV, but I couldn't tell a difference.

I'm thinking you might see a small increase in purchases around the 02/17 date but I think many will be surprised just how small the increase will be. Many people already have HD ready sets and those that don't will likely use the converter box. As for me I have a std. TV with DTV service so I'm in no hurry to upgrade. Once the prices come back down I might do so when I see a good sale for the unit I want.

OK, maybe I could have just said I would be patient....
