I did see the Gators in their last game. They did impress me with overall team speed, but not quite as much at all positions as the Sooners...of which I watched a couple of games. But I've been known to be wrong on more than one occasion.
I thought the defense/turnovers led to all the Tigers points.
That Clemson QB is a pitiful thing. But yeah, team speed means nothing if you can't complete a pass. (That's something Oklahoma can do.) That was a terribly under-achieving team this year.
I just think that Oklahoma is a tiny bit faster and more athletic at most positions. For certain it will be a great game. The wildcard for me in the game is Tebow. That guy is Superman. If it's possible, he'll
will the Gators to win. But my pick stands...Oklahoma 42 - Gators 34.
The Tiger's defense
led to all their points, but they only actually scored two TD's. One was a tip, pick up and score when the qb was pitching out to the back (wow! what a defensive play!) and the other was a pick-6. A fumble recovery (or was it an interception
) by the D gave the Tigers another turnover that led to the lone offensive TD. Harper actually threw a perfect pass to the speedster Jacoby Ford in the endzone. It was a thing of beauty.
Harper just made some really bad decisions, especially near the end. You don't take a sack with time running down and the game on the line. A better throw to C.J. Spiller in the end zone and the game would have been over, also. It was close, but a little behind him which allowed the defensive back to make a play on the ball. Had it been Ford or Kelly, they may have made the catch anyway, but Spiller is just an average receiver.
Clemson just did not execute on offense with any consistency. When Harper threw the ball well, receivers were dropping balls. When they were open he missed them. I know that Nebraska had a weak pass defense so CU tried to exploit that, but their strength is running the ball. I can't figure out why they didn't run more.
Harper was a huge disappointment to Tiger fans this year. ACC QB of the year last year and talk of him being in the Heisman race this year, he went down like cheap lard.
The guy is just a wuss. He obviously does not want to get hit. He had his bell rung in the Alabama game and he was never the same after that.
My prediction on the title game: Fla 31, Oak 28. Oaklahoma is for real, but the Gators sure finished strong and you are right about Tebow. He may have a chip for not winning the Heisman again, also
Can't wait!
