I have owned both the SVS PB12-NSD and a Hsu VTF-3 MK III. The LFM-1 EX is very close to the Hsu VTF-3 MK III in terms of performance. Currently, I am using (2) LFM-1 Pluses and am quite happy. Keep in mind, that the LFM-1 EX is a down-firing sub with down-firing ports whereas the PB12-NSD is a front-firing sub with rear-firing ports.
The design of the EX allows for easier placement when things are confined. Many owners have said it also kinda helps stay child-proof as well. If I had to choose between the VTF 3.3 and the PB12-NSD I would have to opt for the 3.3. However, the PB12-NSD has been
improved upon since I owned mine. You would be hard pressed to go wrong with either one imho. So, to answer your question-
YES the EX is
easily in the class or caliber of the PB12-NSD. Hope this helps and Happy New Year to you.
Cheers,
Phil
