Which sub would you go with?

I have tje Hsu VTF3.3 without the turbo and I'm using only a fraction of its power in a 12x16x8 room. I think my sub sounds really good but the only one I had for comparison was a 10" Klipsch Synergy sub.

Hasn't mike c stated that the turbo is not worth it on the 3.3. Only for the previous HO version, or something?

I'd get the HSU only because I live close to them. I would then try to get a better than advertised deal, if only because I've read of some others doing the same. I know that doesn't help.

From my experience, I'd say you can get good benefit from the turbo. (Mike is too busy taking care of babies to know what subs do what. ;):D)

I have turbos on both of my VTF3-2's and it makes a definitive and measurable difference in output. This setup does a pretty good job of pressurizing my 27'x28'xVaulted room....altho' there is no such thing as too much bass. :)

I would go with neither.

At the moment, www.partsexpress.com has the 12" Audio Pulse AXIS on sale for half price, at $300. Placed in a pre-built and pre-finished Parts Express sealed cabinet and powered with a Behringer Ep2500 amplifier, plus a parametric equalizer like the Behringer Feedback Destroyer, and you have a much better subwoofer for the money. Since all you have to do is slap together PRE-FINISHED PARTS and cutting a hole for the sub, anyone can do it with no building skills.

Looks like that sale is over... Shame...

Amongst one of the best drivers out there for that price.....

Crud, you are right... about the sale.

I won't say it's one of the best drivers out their for the price.... because it's just one of the best drivers out there.... at ANY price. Only thing besting it would be TC's own UltraLMS by a slight amount.

lol :) only have one baby though...

anyway, the reason i mentioned before that the turbo was not necessary for the 3.3 was from my interpretation of the home theater shack tests:

with turbo
http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/subwoofer-tests/5763-hsu-vtf-3-mk3-turbocharger.html

without turbo
http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/subwoofer-tests/5761-hsu-vtf-3-mk3-maximum-extension.html

IMO, they look exactly the same to me ...

check out the power compression and THD charts as well :)

I think you'd be quite happy with either of those subs. Owners of each have had very good things to say about them. Do you have a preference? One thing that would tip me in favor of the HSU is the wood veneer....
