I thought since I got done watching it, I'd write a review on it.
I just posted the review on ebay as well, so chime in if you like it and if you've seen it :)

From AnimeNewsNetwork.com:
Plot Summary: Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Bboying (break-dance) inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don't think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don't think she doesn't have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.

For my personal take on this: (avoiding spoilers)
It's a 26 episode Anime that revolves around Mugen and Jin helping Fuu trying to find a Samurai that smells of sunflowers. The timeline is set somewhere in the Meiji Japan era, but uses hued, faint remarks in retrospect involving modern culture, language (slang), and symbolism. The modern remarks are mostly subtle; it manages to add flair, style, and intrigue to the offset looking backdrop (thinking of the large castles, mountains and expansive natural scenery, as well as formality and culture that would have been more pronounced back then.) The music is by far fresh and modern; however, it's so tastefully done that you don't feel like your watching a "modern samurai" series. It blends in by being an accent to the character's settings, and isn't over used throughout the story line.
Besides the story that unfolds, the animation is very good. Less cinematic sequences keep the color palate rather soft and smooth and give focus to the surroundings that the characters are interacting with, such as walking by the Red Light District, the waterfalls, and forest. The action sequences liven up the screen with bold, contrasting sword movements, fluid yet stopped and structured character movement, and sense that this battle may leave our main characters in an extremely tight situation.

Short Summary:
Animation/Artwork: 9/10 (it's very clean, very very few spots they get lazy)
Audio: 10/10 (Very very cleanly done, and even has 5.1)
Dub: 10/10 (Mugen's voice sounds nearly like Spike from Cowboy Bebop, and the rest of the voice work is excellent)
Story: 8/10 (Very very good story, some episodes loose a bit of focus at the task at hand, but are still brought together very well)
Extras: 7/10 (there are some, but it's typical Geneon/Pioneer fashion)

Overall, it's like watching Zatoichi (but with three characters that can see) with a bit of modern flair mixed in. A very good recipe for a samurai Anime that actually works great. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone that likes action, a little bit of blood, and swords.
(Don't expect fan-service though.)

I noticed that Mugen sounded like Spike too. I felt that Mugen looked a lot like Spike on top of sounding like him. Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure Mugen IS Spike (voice actor) I liked this series, but I preferred Cowboy Bebop over all. I enjoy both of them very much, though I got tired of Champloo and didn't make it to the end. My brother has all of them, so I will have to borrow the rest from him. I have the whole Bebop series.

I also liked Afro Samurai quite a bit. Excellent story, over the top animation and a LOT of blood and swords. The BD is quite good (got it for $11 from Tower). Can't wait for season 2.

I would say so as well, but for some reason, AnimeNewsNetwork shows differing names for Spike and Mugen. However, they sound so close that I really wonder if the info is correct or not.

Also, Champloo and Bebop were directed under the same person, IIRC. Also helped out with Kill Bill in some way.

The cool thing with Bebop was that you could have watched the whole show out of order, and still get everything in the story line. Really cool.

The animated scene of the background of Oren-Ishi in KB1 was done by them I believe.

Yes, everything except the last episode :) The movie was good too, and you didn't really need to have watched the series to get it.

Other series that I really enjoy: Wolf's Rain, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments: Lain, Neon Genesis, Initial D, others...

Neon Genesis was excellent, period. FLCL was a bit short, but awesome because it had just about every style of animation thrown in.

Akira, now that's a classic.

You guys watch any other Anime? Bleach? Naruto?

I'm hooked on bleach. Watched all 198 episodes in about 3 weeks. I didn't sleep much.

I am watching Gundam 00 right now on sci-fi channel. They give 2 eps every Monday and in high def. Story so far has been pretty good as it has that Gundam Wing feeling about it.

Not a big fan of either of those. Not too into any of the series that are on in the states these days. Death Note is cool though. When Full Metal Alchemist was on, I watched that, but it lost steam about mid way through the second season for me. FLCL was excellent. I've started watching Gunslinger Girl and Xam'D since they have them on the Playstation Store.

Naruto was brutal. I tired to watch it, but it's just too childish. Definitely a younger target audience. Bleach targets an older crowd (lots of swearing in the Manga) and has a darker story line. Every week I wait for the new episode and new Manga. New one tonight BTW.

I'm totally hooked on Bleach! I am only on episode 49 right now...and having trouble getting my hands on the rest of them!

Bleach seems cool; I just haven't latched into it yet to be honest. Can't quite understand what exactly is going on (but I could watch and learn a little more).
Deathnote was certainly cool; lots of twists and kept you on yor feet.
Paranoia Agent was good too; definetly a good one to own.

Most recent one I got into was Eureka 7 and Code Geauss. They both took a bit to get into, but both seem really good.

The one I would like to try and get next is XXXholic; but I'm waiting until it's in a boxset.

I tried to get into Bleach, a co-worker gave me the whole series, but I was bored by about the second disc.

Samurai Champloo was ok. Cool fight scenes, but the rap music was kinda weird.

I still think the best anime to come along in a long time is Karas.

I wish they'd put out the first CG Appleseed movie on BD. That movie kicked ***!!

I liked Afro Samurai and picked it up on BD cheap (Tower.com) It gets a little weird in the later episodes, but overall it has a good story and is well done. Short though.

Afro Samurai was pretty cool. But I would have liked it a lot more if it had been in Japanese.
