...use the money I saved you and get the Yamaha!
He's almost surely already spent it on liquor. :D Just drive over there and partake...I'm sure that you guys would get the amp thing worked out by the time the night is over!

I am actually just going to beat you up when you get here and take all your subs that you have for testing....

Oh wait, you are probably talking about that mid bass thing. I don't think I will need it so I may send it back to you unless I like the sound of it.
But that's the one I paid for....take the KAPPA....

Don't be a cheap @$$..... get the Yamaha... 3200w bridged 4ohms....

Enough said... How much did that Servo 15 cost ya... ? You will get all your money back when you sell it, and have money left over.. Get a bottle and celebrate... :)

As annunaki pointed out the possibilities are endless.... for 5K you can buy plenty of the best drivers available.

Personally I would try to procure a number of TC-Sounds/Audiopulse LMS drivers and see if I could buy enough amp power to drive them....

i dont think the yammy is 2 ohm stereo or 4 ohm bridged stable ... especially not for low frequencies.

Dual 2 ohms on the Axis 15 ... perhaps the Behringer EP2500 is the better amp for this purpose.

How much eq to realize 12 hz extension?
Well, realize, I did not mean I will EQ it flat to 12Hz. I was talking about it's maximum output at 12Hz. In average size room, corner loaded, at 12 Hz, two of these should be able to produce a minimum of 110dB; and likely closer to 115dB. By 25-30Hz, 130+ dB should be easy. This is in sealed 5 ft^3 boxes and powered with 2000 watts. Of course, these units can handle substantially more power.

The specific EQ I will likely use is a parametric band centered at 20Hz with 6 db of gain, and a Q of 1.2 to 1.5. This gives a free field response of -3 at 19Hz, -6 at 16 Hz and -12 at 12 Hz. At no point is excursion close to mechanical limits with a 2000 watt input under these specific conditions. The AXIS 15 has around a 45mm one way mechanical limit, and a linear range of 28mm one way.

I was going to use JL Audio 12W7 drivers, one per channel. But the AXIS 15 is even more capable then 13W7; when it went on 1/2 price for the PE DOTD I had to take advantage.

Though the enclosures will be twice the size of the 12W7, you get more performance with less eq for the low end in a sealed application. That is a great price on those drivers.

I kind of figured the response would be down around that range, but with room gain, the output will be insane.

As for the original topic, Warpdrv is correct. at this price point the possibilities are endless.

Honestly for nominal and not extreme SPL, any of the TC-Sounds/Audiopulse drivers TC-2000/Revo, TC-3000/Axis, LMS-5400 would be more then most anyone would ever need in a system and can handle power like really no other drivers out there... When you start getting into the really high power usage and high SPL's you would be better served by the higher end units, but mostly they are just loafing idle....

I just picked up a used 15" Titanium cone TC-3000 for $275 shipped, and I have a couple of 15" Revo's (Upgraded version of the TC-2000) brand new in a box on the way as well... I think I'm going to have way more drivers then I will need.... :)

Some subs are really big and really heavy!

Is there anything better than AN SVS PB13-Ultra or would you buy something else for $5,000.
Well you know after getting a SVS PB12-Plus and seeing how big it is and how great it sounds, I am happy as a pig in mud! If you have the room and can asthetically hide it then yes the SVS PB13-Ultra might be a good choice. But for me, it is too big! In fact the size of the SVS PB12-Plus ( Size: Approx. 25” deep x 19" wide x 21" high. Weight: 127 pounds )
is almost too big. http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-newpb12plus.cfm Actually the SVS PB13-Ultra is only a little larger (Size: Approx. 27” D x 20.5 " W x 22" H (w/o grill) Weight: 155 pounds). http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-pb13ultra.cfm

If you are into very big and very lound the don't overlook the JL Audio subwoofers. The Fathom f113 is an excellent subwoofer that reatils for $3,600-$3,700 fitting under you maximum price range.
http://home.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?prod_id=371

And actually it is smaller in size ( 19.625 in. x 16.50 in. x 19.25 in. weight 130 lbs) than the SVS PB12-Plus

Good Luck!

If I wasn't able to get someone to build me an awesome sub, or have someone like Andrew make one, I'd think the money would be better spent on two Epik Conquests than two SVS Ultra13.

Or...you can always get THREE Ultras. I wouldn't know if you have enough room to put two in let alone three. But man if those ever on. The whole house and the neighbors block will hear ya. At least you will know if your house is earthquake-proof or not! :D
