Actually I take that back... The aspect ratio has been changing consistently for different shots. I don't think I've ever seen or noticed that before in a movie.

The lines weren't bad at my local store last night. I'm watching right now.

Why was the opening sequence in a different aspect ratio?
There are a number of scenes shot in IMAX. The AR's are preserved. If you watched the movie in a regular theater, the larger (taller) AR was masked. AFAIK.

Mine is in transit! Should be here tomorrow (if not today), and yep, movie night! :D

The aspect ratio change is due to the IMAX scenes, though there are only 4 in the movie as mentioned earlier in this thread. Even though it was masked in a regular theater, you could still tell when it changed, at least I could on a few scenes.

Got mine today. Not watching it until Thursday as that is the day my new couch arrives.

There were 6 scenes filmed in IMAX.

Just finished it! Excellent on BR!!

I'm glad the put an "in memory" for Heath Ledger. I don't know if that was in the theatrical release, I never stayed for the credits.

^ probably because it was shot in IMAX

Edit: sorry. I saw your post (cali) on the page before this and didn't realize there were replies to it. :(

Read post #6 of this thread. I looked it up because we were discussing it earlier, there were 4.
First scene, first china aerial scene with fox's arrival, top of tower in china at night scene, lamborguini driving scene, night scene on top of building where he is scanning cell phones, final scene with gordon talking.

Edit: One more is the hospital bomb scene.

I also picked this up at BB today. It was the biggest DVD/BD display that I've seen for a movie. The paper today was saying there are seven differant versions of this, 4 DVD and 3 BD! I got the BD with the Bat-Bike collectable!!

Oops, just reread the article, there are 13 versions (in Canada eh) 8 DVD and 5 BD.

Also says there were 6 IMAX scenes, 34 minutes.

I will get it tomorrow. Hopefully I will be done with all of my final exam garbage so that I can watch it, but things aren't looking too good on that front .

I can't even blame it on posting too much here. I guess it is a comfort that I actually get to blame it on my Turbulence professor and his terrible exam writing skills.

take home exam in place of TDK = crime to humanity

Yeah, masters course.

Mechanical, and you?

Sort of, more thermo I guess. I am researching ground-based gas turbine engines, and all this small university only has fluids or solids courses to offer (besides a very rare heat transfer course). I did 2 undergrad degrees here too and I am pretty much burned out. It is long past time for a real job.

Wow! 2 undergrads in Eng? You are nuts! ;)

I'm considering going back for my masters next Fall. Company I work for will foot the bill, but I'm just not sure. My biggest issue is deciding if I want to go into fluids, propulsion, heat transfer, or something less technical like systems engineering. I tell you, though... being out of school is great right now. Not too sure I really want to go back and deal with having tons of homework and tests to study for again.

We'll just see how that pans out though.

Anyway, good luck tomorrow on your finals!

Thank you.

I am nuts!

Can't complain about a free education. I think I have convinced myself that masters are worth it in the end. I think propulsion or systems would be interesting. Good luck with whatever you decide!

P.S. Sorry to everyone for hijacking the TDK thread
