She asked for a Bose system...

For 200 bucks this actually isn't that painful, what I would have bought her if she just said "I'd like something for my office" would have costed a lot more...

And actually...for an office...this might be kinda nice... she'll just have background music going...

Does this piece of crap have RCA inputs?

Our Dyson cleaned very well. You could see the animal hairs suck up into the clear canister which was pretty cool. The bad thing is that the clutch/belt assembly has to be replaced as a unit and the repair is about $150. Ours broke for the second time in 4 months and we bought a Bissel.
It gets the big stuff good, but a few months after we bought (meaning, "I") it there was something on the news about how they tested a bunch of vacuums and the Dyson was among the worst. I mean, my shop vac was half the money and dominates the Dyson. When there is a mess even she grabs the shop vac rather than the Dyson.

You are going to need an integrated amp for that thing. It's just the speakers and bass module.

Buy her the $200 dollar Bose system, and buy another system that you thin would be better, play them side by side, never worry about another Bose request again. Return Bose system, or pee on it, depending if you want the money back.

She sits at my computer listening to music on Bag End active studio monitors while she does work, my living room has M&K S-150s, Dynaudios in the bedroom...not to mention countless nightclubs with great sounding systems. I mean, she has been exposed to good speakers and even knows the difference... but, she still likes the "style" associated with Bose for her office.

Damn, I can't even find their integrated amplifier that goes with it. Maybe I should set it up for her in the office and hide my big 5,000-watt MacroTech somewhere with the gain all the way up and then the first time she turns it on the speaker cones will be on her lap. It would almost be worth the 200 bucks if I could see it.:D Unless it blew the office fuse first, which would also be kinda funny.

Just get her the Bose and be done with it. You have to pick your fights and this is not one of them.

Thanks for the info on the Dyson guys, I am in the market for a new VC and was thinking the Dyson was the one. I mean, the guy on the commercial says it's great and it turns on a ball....

Here is whole lot better solution for her office for about the same price, $219.
Cambridge Audio S30. Nice small ( aprox 9x9x6 inches) classy looking, very solidly built, 2-way bookshelf speakers that sound very good! ( they take banana plugs or speaker wire you can bi-amp if you wish). http://spearitsound.amazonwebstore.com/Cambridge-Audio-S30-Speakers-Natural-Oak/M/B00196SJOI.htm?utm_campaign=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=froogle

In either case you are going to need a sound source, receiver or amp with PC inputs.

I guess I assumed she was talking about a wave radio or something similar.

She has this bookshelf she wants to put them on. I was going to buy her a pair of Dynaudio Excites X12s in maple (which would match her desk) for it until she asked for the Bose. Her loss, less money spent for me, your right not worth the fight.

I thought Bose made some overpriced little integrated to connect to those. I have a old Denon stereo integrated amplifier (80 watts per channel or something?) I could give her for it.

Just send me the Dynaudio Excites X12s and we can call it even:rolleyes:

Grow some _____ and a _____ and we'll talk.:D

They are well under a grand, didn't really beat my dealer up when I asked. They are dying now with the economy though, and I bet this Bose system will cost almost as much as the Dynaudio plan I had by the time its all said and done. Cheaper than jewlery anyways...

I have purchased 3 pairs of the first one in my 44 years on this earth so that should count for something. None of them are with me at this point:eek:

Maybe check out Orb Audio? They make nice, decent sounding speakers.

The only flaw, in that otherwise sound advice... When next Saturday night rolls around; she is going to tell him "No" for many a fortnight.;)
"No?"

What is this "No"? :D

It must be something kinky the French came up with.

Wow, thanks man, maybe she'll go for those instead.

I can't figure out on their website if the subwoofer powers the little orbs or not (like a computer speaker system). I see the sub is powered.

It doesn't. AH reviewed them, see what they say as far as preferred setup.

I'm pretty sure the forum software hates you Sheep because it never lets me give you rep, only thanks, yet it lets me give rep to other people no problem.

That's because thanking him is giving him rep. and then you have to spread some rep around before you can give rep to him again. If you wanted to you could remove all the thanks you gave him recently and then give him rep. Then you would be able to replace all the thanks you yanked. ;)

I'm gonna give him some rep for you. I'll sign it "I love you Sheep. Sensi." :D

Actually, you just need to remove the thank, and then you can scale, and re thank afterwords. Unless you've recently given the person scales.

I agree with that but a thanks in one post will prevent you from using the scales in another post. It will show the spread rep around message. I'm pretty sure I'm right about that and that's about the best I can explain it.
