Movie Tavern :)

Anyways, just curious as to how much some of you pay where you go?? ....

Cheers,

Phil
With or without the senior discount ? :D :D

Most places around here regular price is $6.00 - $7.00 Some matinees are as cheap as $3.75. I usually get $1-$2 discount ;) But then again, I mainly watch Netflix on one of the best HT (IMHO) around especailly since the theater management added a SVS PB12-Plus.

There is a place I have been meaning to try called the "Movie Tavern". It advertises: stadium seating, fullbar&menu, DTS Digital Sound, and Full in-seat service at all locations: three local locations. :) :)

That is great Mid. Thanks for posting. Those prices really are resonable imho. BTW, I am glad you are enjoying your new sub! :):) What did you think of my suggestion of using one of the pics you posted as an avatar? I think it would be great myself. Adam, can help you manipulate the pic in order to get it in the right size for an avatar. All you have to do is ask. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

The last time i went it was myself and my 2 daughters i think it was $10.50 a ticket and we bought a big popcorn and 2 big pops and it came to $50. It just reminded me of why i don't ever go out to the movies.

I like watching them better at home anyway (better sound):)

Very good point. However, I always go to the early Sunday showing as it only costs $6. Been known to bring my own candy and pop. Usually, if I do buy anything it is just popcorn depending on how hungry I am. :D:D But, I do agree it can get real expensive real fast if you are not careful. Thanks for posting. BTW, I like your user name! :p:p

Matinee here is $8.00. That isn't too bad, but $5.00 for a drink and $5.00 for a popcorn is what kills it, so we usually eat before or after and don't get anything there. Saw Quantum of Solace this weekend for $16 for the two of us, the first movie I have seen in theaters in a few months, and even though it was only out for a week, it was already in one of the "small" theaters.

My REAL problem was the stupid little teen kids that the parents just give $20 to and they go to the movies to sit there and text, talk and generally be themselves = annoying. I actually yelled at a pack of morons who were very disruptive (couldn't have been more than 12-14yo all of them) and said "if you don't shut the hell up, I will have you removed from the theater." They left. I don't see why they even bother to go into the theater if they aren't going to watch the movie? It is idiotic.

John, this post reminds me of that old saying "A few bad apples can spoil the bunch". That is, it only takes a few disruptive people albeit teens that can really mess up a good movie experience. I agree that many of them choose to socialize while most are trying to watch the movie they paid to see.:rolleyes:

Like you, I usually eat before the show or right after. Even been known to bring in my own candy. ;);) I also make sure I go to the earliest showing on Sunday. That way, it usually is not too crowded thereby reducing issues with disruptive patrons. Of course, like all things in life this is NOT always the case.

LOL...........hey why not sell them there and make a profit? I sure would. One man's junk can always be another man's treasure.........right? However, sometimes vintage gear is worth keeping. Thanks for posting.

Seriously, I have no life.
Sure, first put me down, then get all nosey. It's go time. :D:D Of course, I'm just joking!

I stay home from the movies for various reasons. First and foremost, I don't like to leave my dog alone any more than I have to. I'm gone so much for work (especially with my two-hour commute), I feel guilty leaving her alone more than needed. Second, I just don't like going to movie theaters. They've certainly gotten better over the years, but there's always the chance that one or more people is just going to be loud and annoy me. That, and I can pause a movie when I'm at home - to get a snack, use the restroom, whatever. So much more convenient at home.
Sounds like you are a good dog owner.

If you go to shows that have been out for a number of weeks, at a multiplex, I have found my local theater to be practically empty and don't have such problems. Usually I can wait a few weeks and go on a early weekend show. Works for me.:D

Well, work closed early yesterday so I once again went to see a movie. I paid $6.75 for the movie which was a 3:30 showing. Went and seen Hell Boy 2. I noticed, that if I get to see a movie before 12:00 Noon it is only $5.50. On rare occasions, if you see the 10:30 am show it is only $4.00. These price are reasonable given that everything seems to be going up. Just today I went and seen The Strangers at another movie place and it was only $3.25 for the 1:10 showing. Of course, if you get a drink and some pop corn be prepared to spend another $8.00 or so which I think is too much.:eek: Anyways, just curious as to how much some of you pay where you go?? It will be interesting to see just how much the differences are. Please share with us.

Cheers,

Phil
My local matinee is either the same as yours or $6.50. That is most of my trips to them for:D

Okay I changed my Avatar :D I tuned and calibrated the SVS PB12-Plus with a SPL and now the sound is fabulous; I may never go to a movie theater again  Maybe I will start a new thread and give more details with more pictures, including grill off pictures; the rosenut color is very nice! The new sub met and exceeded my expectations and the boss likes it even though she said 'it is bigger that I thought it would be'

I also worked on my garage system relocated the Klipsch sub off the work bench (new place a sub on a wood workbench for good sound) to a padded felt mat on the ground (now it sounds very good); now I have a 5.1 system in the garage with pretty good sounding low notes.

Then I put up Christmas decorations. My wife had bought some specials at Beringer's after Christams sale last year: a 60" lighted santa and a 6 channel lighted music display. So I bought a lighted Jack Frost and some lighted candy canes and a Santa stocking. Now I have synchronized sound with Christmas tunes and Santa glowing with a small halogen spotlight. Now from an audioholic's viewpoint, the sound is all coming out of a single cheap 2 1/2" speaker.....  enough said!
Thanks,

MidCow2

P.S.- Phil I changed my Avatar as you suggested

Man, its like im looking in a mirror :D I too feel guilty leaving my pups home for any amount of time longer than necessary, and I also have the same pet-peves about going to the theater. Dirty seats, obnoxious people who wont stop talkigng, the kid kicking the back of my chair, sharing an armrest with a stranger, and worst of all.... when they have the sound turned down too low in an action flick!! WHATS WITH THAT!?!?

So yeah... and not only that, but for the $20 it costs to GO to the movie with the misses, I can buy the same movie on blu-ray and watch it 100 times in the comfort of my own home at my home HT :D No comparrison. Maybe if it were $3.00 to go to the movies I would consider it. But now that I have my own litlte HT, movie prices seem WAY WAY too high.

The pups
