Hi everyone,

After much deliberation, debates, and decisions from this forum, plus a few others/reviews, blah, blah, blah...I decide to bite the bullet and ordered the PB12-NSD from sonicboomaudio.com. Hopefully I'll be happy. I'll post what I think about once I have it. :D My old one is a Klipsch Sub-12. :p

Hope so...

I have great expectations from the SVS, it's the biggest purchase for a sub, for me anyway...Like the old saying, you've got what you paid for...can't wait till next Monday.:D

Although the price has gone up a bit because of our lousy CDN dollar, its still a bargin IMO. Heh.. I auditioned both at SB but had to settle for the pb10 becaue of budget limitations at that particular time and to this day I have no regrets! :D

PS: Alright maybe one, I now wish I had a bigger sub. JK..:p your going to love that sub.
Regards, Bill :)

Our dollar down the hill...

Thanks bill! I've noticed our dollar keeps on sliding...that's why I decide to go for it. I'm thinking what the H#^^ let's give it whirl...

Earlier, I was deciding between NSD, VTF3-Mk 3, and LFM1-Plus. The quote that I've got from I've got a quote from latter two are outrageous, especially the shipping. So I say, heck with the shippings and other charges on top of them....I would spend up to 11-13 hundred ...No thanks.

I though about the Outlaw, as well, and that was when our dollars were equal. The shipping charges and brokerage frees sure make that decision easier for us(Canadians). On a side note the Outlaws are made by Hsu and I just preferred the design and look of the SVS.:)

I have the SVS PB12/2 NSD and it is an awesome sub, far more than I needed (but got a great deal on B-Stock. ) The sub produces alot of tactile bass and fills my room with powerful deep, clean bass. Your gonna think when you get it that someting is wrong, because your used to hearing that "whoosh" sound which is distortion. With SVS you don't hear any distortion but you sure can feel the deep bass. :D BTW I have my gain set at only 2.5 and it produces this type of effect.

Here's a pic of mine, but mine is the dual 12's so yours will be just a tad smaller, but gives you an idea of the size your looking at.

Congrats on your decision! Be sure to hunker down, because you are in for a pleasant surprise. ;);) Excellent choice by a great company. In fact, SVS offers the best customer service I have seen to date from any company. Be sure to keep us posted and if you don't mind perhaps post a few pics. It will be most appreciated. Have fun!

Cheers,

Phil

One word of advice when you get it, is to set the gain at level 2 and start from there. I was using a POS JBL sub which had to be at level 8, so I thought when I got the SVS I'd put the gain at 8 and try out the Darla scene from "Finding nemo". That was three years ago and my GF still hasnt forgiven me for having a beloved picture in another room mind you, come crashing to the ground. I thought my bay window was gonna smash into a million pieces and I must've broken a land speed record jumping the table to get to the reciever to turn the volume down.

So worth it though.

Thank you for the advice, I'm glad you let me know that...my wife have quite a few fragile glassware around the house, so I'm sure she wouldn't feel appreciate when she comes home from work.

That's how he stirs his drinks when he's watching a movie ... just sets the glass down on the sub. :p

Heck I don't even need the glass on it, just in the cupholder in the chair next to the sub and wait for a good tactile scene to come on (explosion in movie 'Shooter" for example).

Seriously what I love about SVS is if you look at my picture you will see a small harmony remote and small portable phone sitting on the sub, but even though they are very lightweight, the SVS is so well built that they don't ever even move (even during the pulse gun scene from Transformers) but man oh man sitting next to the sub, every bone in your body will vibrate from the tactile bass that thing generates. :D
