There are some slick 4 and 6 bangers out there that can certainly crap all over my V8. I just can't bring myself to drive something that sounds like a weed eater.
You tell me if this sounds like a weed eater.

Supercharged K20A with forged internals, 375Hp.

Harldo,

The secret to the Ariel Atom isn't F1 technology, it's a high horse Honda engine in a light weight chassis. Less weight means the car can hold corners better (no weight to pull it out of line). That video above is a new version with forged internals and 15Psi from the supercharger.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you drive a Big Orange Thunderbird?

Just curious, whats the specifications on that?

SheepStar
Thunderbird? Yes. Orange? No, alpine green with oxidation.

I've never dyno'd it, but Ford specs say 205hp/280lb/ft tq. With my intake and exhaust it's good for 15s in the 1/4. Plenty slow.

Why?

With top speed of 288 MPh

A good guess is that this car will be more than $10.000 though
SWeet BMW................BUT,

The worlds fastest production car is a Bugatti Veyron and it clocked at 253mph.
There is no way in hell that giant BMW sled sniffs anywhere close to those kinds of speeds.

The Bugatti is SICK...........

Check out the above clip. The Bugatti has over 1,000HP and cost $1.6MILL

This clip claims 253mph, but Guinness only recognizes a speed of 248.
It's not over 1000hp, it's 997. And it's only fast in a straigh line. Top Gear recently putit around their track, and it wasn't first, not by a long shot.

If you want something that is fast in a straigh line, and around corners, look at the Caparo T1.

Yeah, I agree with you !!!
And the Veyron is ...... from another world.....
That video is absolutely :D:D:D:D
And the thing... that at top speed the tyres will only last for 15 minutes

BUT, Actually I believe the latest iteration of the Swedish "Koenigsegg CCXR Edition" may outrun a Veyron
http://www.koenigsegg.com/cars_3_2.html

Everything in this car is either Carbon fibre or Titan, and there's a twin turbo with 1018 HP :eek::eek::eek::eek:

This is very new

I believe a car already beat the Veryron LAST year - may still be unofficial, but it definitely has more HP than the Veyron - 1183, and it also topped the Koenigsegg:

WEST RICHLAND, WA (SEPT 13, 2007) - Shelby Supercars (SSC), manufacturer of the ultra high-performance Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo, set the new 'World's Fastest Production Car' record earlier today with an average top speed of 255.83 mph. Confident of the 1183 hp vehicle's abilities, SSC set out to validate their top speed claim in accordance with the strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records. Among other requirements, in order to meet Guinness’ approval, a vehicle testing for the top speed record must drive down the course, turn around, and make a second pass in the opposite direction within one hour. The vehicle's official top speed is calculated by averaging the top speeds of each pass in order to negate any favorable road or weather conditions. Today, on a temporarily-closed two lane stretch of public highway in Washington State, the Ultimate Aero posted a top speed of 257.11 mph (413.83 kph) on its first pass and 254.55 mph (409.71 kph) on its return pass, yielding a new top speed record: a staggering 255.83 mph (411.76 kph). The data, collected by Dewetron's world-renowned GPS tracking system, will be verified by Guinness before the Ultimate Aero is officially crowned the ''World's Fastest Production Car.'' This breaks the current official record held by the Koenigsegg CCR at 242 mph by 13.83 mph and the Bugatti Veyron's unofficial speed of 253 mph by 3.11 mph.

Nice :D

But we're never going to own cars like that......

Perhaps I should post a picture of my 18 year old BMW 520i alongside the Veyron so you can vote which one looks better

Another thing....
The Koenigsegg CCXR Edition is supposedly significantly lighter and more powerful than the CCR, which held the world record and it should be faster than the CCR

I agree, a good condition Camaro SS is pushing it for $10K. Of those listed, it is one that I would not mind driving. One of the best V8s around and plenty of parts. With a little suspension you can have a quick, fun car. My buddy had one that was ridiculously fast and handled well also.
Actually, they can be had. A quick 2 minute or so check found this one. Pretty nice for under 8k with 358rwhphttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-SS-2000-SS-Camaro-1998-1999-2001-2002-Low-Reserve-T-tops_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQihZ011QQitemZ320319963644QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

To be honest, I was surprised (and impressed) that the Veyron was as quick round the track as it managed. There was no way it was ever going to be uber quick given the mass, but it still put in a mighty impressive time - kudos to the engineers.

The Caparo is amazing, but was of course 'disqualified' as it can't go over speed bumps. I believe the quickest car they'd consider legal on the course is one they've never filmed - an Ultima GTR. It's that age old classic - a lightweight, great handling British car, with a huge Yank V8 shoehorned in :D.

Oh, and Top Gear in Italiano è molto sconosciuta*!

* Perhaps "bizzarro" is better... mio Italiano è non molto bene...

At 250MPH......that'll get ya 50 miles down the road!! That's plenty of time to find a gas station providing it isn't in Utah.
HEH

If the car has a 25 gallon tank, that's 2MPG with the pedal to the metal:cool:

Veyron has 100 liters.

The Caparo went around the track in 1:10 seconds. Which is 6-7 seconds faster then the current leader, the Gumpert. If they implement a simple nose lifting system, it could handle speed bumps and be at the top of the charts.

LOL, i didn't know the video was in Italian, I posted it at work and the computer had no speakers. Here's an English Version

So, did you have a reason for asking about my car, or were you just being a jack ass?
