This just dropped into my email inbox

The Top Ten 300 Horsepower Cars for Under $10,000
http://www.nextautos.com/the-top-ten-300-horsepower-cars-under-10000

Considering all the "car fanatics" in this forum, I wondered perhaps this could be of interest to some of you guys

The top one is of BMW 850i, which I think is quite awesome, what you probably don't know is that there is also an M version of this..... yes M8
That is absolutely :eek::eek::eek:
Supposedly the M8 never came further than the prototype stage, but there is supposed to be some few of them out there too, This car could probably follow a Ferrari Enzo...

Other than that there is talk about a new M8

With top speed of 288 MPh

A good guess is that this car will be more than $10.000 though

I've only seen 1 of the older 8-series ever.

 for the M8!

There are quite a few 840s (V8) and a few 850s(V12) around here. What they probably don't take into account is the fact that the 8 series is VERY expensive to maintain because they are so rare.

A buddy of mine has a GS400 and stopped driving it when the gas prices skyrocketed because it cost as much as an SUV to drive. It is a nice car though.

300Z = 4000lbs. Too heavy even for 300HP - LOTS of aftermarket parts though and a very solid chasssis. Fun to drive, but weight can be felt.

Pretty good list. Not sure I'd put the Stealth in there though; even with 320hp and AWD, it wasn't a great car. Someone was selling one recently right up the street from me.

$10,000 over here buys you a small car if you're lucky - maybe a scooter

I presume they mean $10K used, since none of those cars have been in production for a while.

yeah, but 10k over here really doesn't get you anything - even used.

Because they all have to be brought into the country :) I can get a lot for $10K here.

A 2002 Camaro SS for under $10K. Not around here. $20K is more like it. Earlier this year, the current owner of my previous 2002 Camaro SS offered to sell it back to me for $18K.

That car cant do 288 mph I'll believe it when I see it, Rumored is different than did. The Bugatti Veyron tops out at 253 mph and it needs all of its 1,000hp to get there.

Where the heck are Mazer and Sheep on this one? I know Sheep has some insider info on the sporty cars... I can only wish to own one at this point but I continue to live vicariously thru AH......

Someone was telling me about the M8, but couldn't remember what is was called. All I got was BMW, and crazy fast.

I wouldn't touch any of those cars on that list. Import and SiR and boost it. 300Hp, less then 10 grand. Not to mention still good on gas. When it comes to new cars, the Lexus LF-A and Honda NSX will be more attainable. Both have 5 liter V10s, with the NSX having 560Hp (SH-AWD too). Apparently Lexus won't release the LF-A until it hits either 300Kph, or 200MPH. One of the 2. Honda is the same, but their goal is to beat the GT-Rs 7:29 Nurmberg time.

I'd jump all over one of those Camaros. I hope I'm never forced to own a car that isn't a V8.

ariel atom 300
OH yes indeed....

From what I have read and heard, this is almost like formula 1 technology... in a street car....

0 - 60, it's quicker than a Ferrari Enzo or any Lamborghini....

What BBC Top Gear writes about this.......

BBC Top Gear (Atom 2 220 & 300 Supercharged)
'I think this is one of the most beautiful cars in the world partly because it's so elegant and partly because it's such a wonderful piece of engineering.'

'The Atom is fast on an entirely new level. I have never, ever driven anything that accelerates so fast.'

'If anything this car is even more impressive in the bends than it is in a straight line. Anyone who wants to know how a car should behave should drive one of these. This is driving nirvana.'

'Over the years I've flown F15 fighters, done power slides in airboats, straffed the desert from helicopter gunships, but for sheer exitement this thing is off the scale.'

In the Top Gear racing tests on track the Atom outpaced Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 and Porsche Carrera GT.

Thank you. I was going to say that. I doubt if $10,000 would even be enough for a down payment!

Nurburgring. Under $10K? Moderatly built SR20DET S13 for one simple reason: RWD. High HP FWD cars are tougher to work with as traction becomes an issue at some point. There are some great handling FWD cars out there, but I will take RWD any day of the week.

I agree, a good condition Camaro SS is pushing it for $10K. Of those listed, it is one that I would not mind driving. One of the best V8s around and plenty of parts. With a little suspension you can have a quick, fun car. My buddy had one that was ridiculously fast and handled well also.

Yeah you probably wouldn't like my 4 cylinder with the Invidia exhaust :D
There are some slick 4 and 6 bangers out there that can certainly crap all over my V8. I just can't bring myself to drive something that sounds like a weed eater.
