Looks OK. If you've seen Dark Knight, you've most likely seen the trailer.

I saw this over the weekend. Have to say, I didn't like it as much as Casino Royale. Reviews were saying "darker" and more action focused, but I felt it was quite the opposite. It had about the same amount of action and a bit less interesting of a story and a villain that just didn't quite do it for me. It wasn't a bad movie at all, but it didn't blow me away either.

The story was too convoluted. I had no idea what was going on at times. Editing was terrible.

The story lacked focus, and I agree, the editing was awful. It seemed a bit rushed and the ending wasn't really totally satisfying.

Totally sucked

I saw this yesterday. I thought the movie sucked. Even the main theme song totally sucked - I thought it was the worst Bond song of all times.

I thought "Casino Royale" was awesome. What in the world happened here?

Story sucked.
Very boring.
Just plain bad IMO.

I think you are just too kind.:D

I thought that Casino Royale sucked because James Bond was too much like a regular guy (thus not enough like James Bond), plus there weren't nearly enough Bond staples like gadgets and double-entendres.
If the new one is like that, I doubt I will care for it.

In Casino Royale, he just became a "00", so essentially he hasn't met Q yet. Yes, this one is more like the first one than traditional bond movies. This one picks up more or less 15 minutes after Casino Royale, so it is pretty much part 2 of it. My guess is there will be a return to gadgets in subsequent movies.

I kind of liked the theme song - Jack White and Alicia Keys. Not the best Bond song though...

Maybe it's because I saw it for free, but I found myself enjoying the darkness in this movie. I also understand that this is the second movie in a trilogy (at least, 3 with the similar story) and knew there would only be compounding of problems, not a clear villain and ending.

If you think there wasn't enough action, you need to re-watch it. Starts with the car chase, then a fist fight suspended in air, then another car chase, followed by a boat chase. Not enough action? The problems for me were the foreshadowing (mainly, the ending with the power source for that building). Other then that, I was satisfied with the film, and look forward to the next release.

Well, you had practically two separate plot lines, and while they were both somewhat linked together, I don't think they did a good job at clearly conveying the "point" of the movie. He uncovers one problem while looking for his own motivations, and then follows that one and ignores his original one during most of the movie? That didn't make sense. There isn't a compounding, because this antagonist had nothing to do with the first movie? Or was Quantum mentioned in the first one? I did not rewatch CR before going to see this one.

I didn't say there was no action :) I liked the car chase at the beginning, though I am not sure those Breras were really going to be able to keep up with the DB. The ending was a bit of a let down though; even if it was part of a trilogy, it didn't leave me wondering about what is next.

John, I did not think Quantum of Solace was too bad. In fact, I liked it better than Casino Royale. However, I had a lot of disruptions when watching Casino Royale so that kind of ruined the experience so to speak. Not sure what I missed in Casino Royale, but I followed the story-line much better in Quantum of Solace. This may be due to not have as many disruptions.:confused: Maybe the third installment will be better. I do plan to watch Casino Royale again when I find the time.

Cheers,

Phil

The reason why Quantum lacked behind Casino was because it wasn't the same director. It's funny how the two best modern bond movies were directed by the same guy (Goldeneye and Casino Royale).

I hate it when they do that - use different directors!:D

Yeah, I liked both Goldeneye and Casion Royale a lot. I didn't realized it was the same director.

I thought there were plenty of action.

I just hate the lack of focus. I thought the story was all over the place.

I might like it better on blu-ray.:D

For: Using the opening car chase scene to show off my surround system

Against: Everything else. Really bad writing, lots of holes in the story line, hard to follow, and event he Bond girl wasn’t that hot.

Totally agree about the lack of focus. The story seemed to meander for 2 hours, with intermittent action scenes. I also thought the last "battle" scene was incredibly stupid for some reason. Something about the movie didn't click all together.

I for one loved CR. The story was excellent, Vesper Lind was smoking hot, and they didn't try to overdo the "edge". What I liked a lot was the fact that they were able to make Bond rough around the edges, but not into a total wild card (a la Jack Bauer). I thought he became less smooth in the second movie- they went too far in making him an uncontrollable youth.

I finally picked this up yesterday. In a way there ARE 3 different stories going.

1. The struggle Bond is having within himself with wanting to simply track down the people who killed Vesper, And wanting to be a professional & simply do his job.

2. What he fell into with the fallout from the escape in the beginning.

3. The Bond girl issues & how it worked out for her, & how it impacted on Bond.

I thought that it had just the RIGHT mix of believable action & storyline. I find that I'm not missing the gadgets at all. Simply because before CR, that's ALL Bond movies were about, gadgets, & fights with barely any storyline = ZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Yep, and just like most movies with one primary story and 2 weak sub plots, it failed. This movie didn't have the right mix of anything IMHO. I don't miss the gadgets either, but at least if there were some, there would be something interesting going on. I liked the concept; I just don't think they delivered it adequately to make me feel like there was a point. It didn't "feel" like this was the resolution of the first movie, and the sub plots just complicated it. It basically turned into a vigilante/revenge story.
