My wife and I are replacing the TV in the bedroom for Christmas this year and we are looking at flat panel LCDS. The TV is going in an antique cabinet so we are a little limited by dimensions. It appears as though the following 37 inch TVs will fit and have pretty solid review. I was wondering if someone had experience with these or could offer a recommendation between them. I would also be open to another suggestion in the area at a similar price point (7-800).

This set will be directly connected to cable without a box and will also have a DVD player. 1080p is not needed, but it is getting harder to find sets without it.

Here are the front runners
Samsung LN37A450, the Sony Bravia KDL-37L4000, and the Panasonic Viera TC-37Z85.

Out of the three displays, only the sony passed 3/2 testing and had the second highest motion resolution. As for color accuracy, its all pretty close to one another. After that it will come down to looks and features.

Any tips for determining which of the features are most important? For example, the Sony has 3/2 but a contrast ratio 2000:1 (can't find the dynamic contrast ratio or the response time); the Samsung has 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, no 3/2, but 6ms response time; and the Panasonic has 10,000:1 dynamic contrast, no 3/2, and 6.7ms.

Does anyone happen to know the dynamic contrast ratio or response time on the Sony?
I am pretty new to this and their is a lot more to keep track of these days.

Picture adjustment would be a big one for me, as is access to the service menu where avialble to change offset values. As for the contrast ratios and response times, they are skewed and worthless when published by most manufactures;) At the your price point and size limitation I wouldnt worry to much about "which ones best", and as a bedroom room tv. IMO the sony and sammy are neck and neck, with the sony ahead in the final. However its up to you. The 3/2 pulldown would be enough for me.

I think you're right, the 3/2 might be a must. The only other 3/2 capable one in the same price point I see is the Toshiba. There is a great deal at a local store on the 37cv510.

Any thoughts on the Toshiba line of LCD vs the Sony?

I went and looked at the Sony next to the Toshibas I listed above. My Wife and I both agreed that the Sony's picture was criper, the black better, and overall a more true picture...so the Sony it is. Thanks again bandphan
