I've been holding back the urge to buy a Barrett for a LONG time.

If you want to get a reliable gun with cheap ammo, the AK-47 would be a good choice. There are alot of aftermarket parts available to sporterize the AK-47. The AK-47 is regarded as the best weapon made. Im going to get 1 or 2 when i have the funds. You can get 2 for the price of a moderately equiped AR-15.

I'm guessing you haven't looked at AK prices lately? Ammo is ridiculous, and almost impossible to find ... and even the cheap AK's like WASR's are pushing $500. It wasn't that long ago you could get a WASR for $99.

I have my share of AK's and love em all, but if I had to choose between AK and AR I'd take the AR. It's just a more flexible platform, can be a precision rifle if needed, and has better ergonomics. Real-world reliability between the two seems to be pretty much even. The M16 got off to a bad start in Vietnam, but those issues were resolved long ago.

I'm not really too big on firearms, but I do own a few, a couple air rifles including a chinese gamo air rifle that chrono'd 300 fps higher than the manual said, and a Nobel Rws .22 cal that I love to plink cans with. Can't forget the varmint gun, the old remington .22-250 that mainly gets used for prairie dogs and cayotes that are so popular in ND. Used to have a Ruger P83 but sold it at one time to pay some bills. I am however a paying member of the NRA to support our constitutional rights to bear arms.

Uhm, yea ... that's the **** right there. The 50BMG is just too much, so I've been thinking about a 338 Lapua as well. That gun is pricey, but looks well worth it.

Which one? Old Mort was a man of many disguises. It depended on the arms being used. S&W Scofields, Colt SAA, 44 Russians, Colt Open Tops, Colt 1860 Army's and Ruger Vaqueros each has/had their own getup (and leather with appropriate type of rifle and scattergun).

Best picture was one taken by a guy at one ot the meets with an old Mathew Brady type camera that did a tin type of my wife and me that you would swear is 150 years old......just can't figure out how to post it

Every once in a while I like to take my 1880 original Springfield Trapdoor rifle up to the range with some home rolled 45-70 black powder rounds. Gets the attention (and lungs) of the AR guys on the line. By the time the smoke clears I can see the target again.

I've scope-eyed myself more than one time shooting at prairie dogs, we typically run hot customs loads with steele jacket bullets, 60x scope at a range of about 2,200 feet. It's actually a pretty easy shot, not much to compensate for windage, just not exactly the kind of rifle to use for deer hunting, no knock down power, purely penetration. Isn't that what it's all about?

The 220 Swift and 22-250 are both great varmint guns. I have an AR that I built as a .223 WSSM. That round gets bad rep on the net, but mine shoots like a dream. I worked up a load with 52gr Sierra MatchKings that chrono's at 4120fps on average, and does about 1/2 MOA. I also moly coat all my bullets and treated the barrel, and did the Tubbs throat maintenance thing, and barrel still measures as new after about 600 rounds.

That'll be my gun if I ever get to go on a Pairie Dog shoot. It'll keep a 69gr MatchKing supersonic past 1000 yards!

A friend of mine recently bought a .17 rifle, which I thought was supposed to be the new rim fire, but have been told it is actually a center fire cartridge, haven't taken the time to read up on the new little varment gun, but it does sound interesting witht the smaller bullet and nearly the same powder load it should have some good accuracy and penetration power for slightly larger varments such as rabbits and skunks for where I live. Anybody else tried out a .17?

The only thing I am shootin is pictures with my new Camera thanks to this guy Ryan who likes guns I see...... I have an air rifle for varments and critters but thats it. I am scared to have a gun in my house for various reasons that don't need to be disscussed here.

Just some junk I have, a Stainless Mossberg 500 pump 12 GA., Stainless Ruger P89 with slide back 9mm, Glock 21 .45, and a K-Mart Remingtom 870 12 GA. with 18 1/4" barrel.

I also have two Mini-14's one in a folding stock, a Stainless Ranch Rifle custom built for me to shoot from my wheelchair, mounted on a football helmet with a sip and puff trigger that I can aim down a red dot scope.

That is AWESOME, I have a cousin that is totally blind since birth, and he competes in archery tournaments with his father, his dad stands behind him and tells him up, down, left or right, and has put arrow groupings within 2 inches at 100 yards, he's better with a bow than I am, lol

We just got supressors passed here in MO, so of course I want to show my support for the new legislation This is what I'm looking at, not a picture of my gun, just what I'm looking at getting. Sig P226 Combat with threaded barrel. Because honestly what scares me most about having to use a gun for self-defense would be firing at night with no hearing protection, in an enclosed space. One shot and you'd be deaf and blind, this would fix that.

Firing a gun without hearing protection isn't comfortible but you probably won't go deaf even indoors. You won't go blind either, haven't you ever shot a gun someplace dark?

The 226s are good but I'd look into the H&K USP Compact Tacticals too.

Depending on caliber is how much quieter the silencer would be. In larger sizes they are quieter but "different sounding" ... whereas with the little 22s you just hear the action.

That's alway's been a bit of a peeve for me, the gun battles in movies, especially indoors, and you never ever see anybody rubbing their ears. I've fired a .45 indoors before, in a target range, and 3 shots was enough for my ears to ring for several hours.

A SIG 226 would be a good place to start looking.

I have a Bushmaster M4 AR-15....I love it. My friends have the AK's. The abuse they put their rifles through is ridiculous, I just don't see the AR-15 holding up in the extremes they put on their rifles. I cant say ive seen them clean any of their AK's even after an all day marathon of shooting. I strip my AR every time i shoot it, and meticulously clean it. It usually has a extreme build up of burnt powder in the upper receiver/bolt area. I acquired a lot of Mil Spec ammo from a local sporting goods store and ive had a terrible time trying to use it. I don't know why but the primer in some of the bullets is coming out and getting in the buffer area and causing the bolt to stay open slightly. I have to take the pin out and open up the receiver and fish out the primer. I haven't bought any other ammo in bulk to try after getting burned on that deal. I'm eyeing some bulk Fiocchi stuff at the moment. Ive never had a bad experience with Fiocchi ammo. I haven't even looked at any Ammo prices of any caliber in a few months.

On a different note, Has anyone seen the full auto Ruger 10/22 on YouTube?
I seen it last night and it has stirred my curiosity I don't want one but i am very interested in how they are modded to make them work. In the video it appears that the bolt remains open after firing, until the trigger is depressed again. Anyone know anything? If so please PM me

I wasn't being literal ... just saying if I wake up at 2am and hear somebody coming up the stairs after a dead sleep, firing a gun is going to leave me deaf and blind for at least 30 seconds. By then, if there's a second guy coming up the stairs I'd be screwed.

A friend and I have a Sig vs. HK thing going. I'm the Sig guy, he's the HK guy I do like his fullsize HK 45, but prefer the steel framed Sigs.

I shot a S&W 460 Mag in the dark once after being outside for a good 1/2 hour and my eyes had adjusted. I was seeing floaters for hours. But that thing makes the Desert Eagle muzzle flash Cali posted look like a 22.
